  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So Sad

Watching the news tonight I saw something very sad. A man and his wife, who are avid baseball fans went to a baseball game saturday. The wife was 7 months pregnant. The husband said about an hour in, it was too hot and wanted to move to the shade, by the time they did his wife passed out from heat stroke.

He says she knew it came down to her or the baby and chose to save her baby's life. The boy was born 2 months early and the mother died. :(

While I was very sad for the loss of this woman, I couldn't help thinking. Why at 7 months pregnant(which I am a few days shy of) would youplan go sit in direct sunlight for 4+ hours(the length of the game if they'd seen the whole thing) when it's 110+ degrees with the humidity?

:prayer: Prayers for this widow and his new son.

No, I'm not in anyway being judging.

Sometimes my husband will remind me not to do something and I'll think quit being overprotective. Yes, pregnancy is normal but this hit home how easily it can go from not being normal. I should listen to my DH, God makes him protective for a reason.

I don't have much problem with the heat, I just don't go outside until it's past 8pm or before 10am. That heat hitting me in the face makes me want to throw up.

This is being talked about on my September 2006 birth board as the mother in question was due in September as well. Everyone there had the same question of why would they go out in the heat like that. I guess we all make mistakes though and hindsight is 20/20. It is terribly sad.
