They'll burn some heretics at the stake. Oh wait----they don't do that anymore.......nevermind.What should I expect? My church is hosting it and I've never been to one.![]()
Oh bother.I thought about making and wearing a monks habit to church, I definately have the burlap for it. Can we say "Ohm"?
We are accepting new members into the congregation but from the schedule (which I get early because I update the church website) I don't see anything too different.
We are having a "Circuit Reformation Service" at a fellow LCMS church nearby on Wednesday. They are going to combine choirs.
email from pastor said:AS WE GATHER
Our celebration of the Reformation is not simply a look into the past but an acknowledgment that in every age and generation the Church is called on to answer anew the question of Christ, "Who do you say that I am?" What took place nearly 500 years ago was not a rebellion but a call to refocus the Church on this Gospel. When we have the Gospel in its fullness we can be sure that we are the Church, that salvation and life are accessible here. All of that is premised on the fact that forgiveness has been won for us by the death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ. This is why justification by grace through faith is that cardinal doctrine and truth on which the Church stands or falls. It is not enough to have possessed this Gospel in the past; this Gospel must be kept clearly before us today or we will be in danger of forsaking our heritage and losing our identity as the Church of Jesus Christ.
