Conspiracy theories & rumors. Trying to knock people's posts off the page. Trying to get people banned. Reporting people in groups, etc. This is what Mike referred to in the other thread. I had certain FB people coming to me saying that certain people were saying this. I was invited to a group under the guise of promoting Catholic teaching. When someone posted something untrue concerning Catholic teaching. My job? Post something to correct the error. Turns out it was something else all together & the ring leader got ugly about it. During this time, I was not on OBOB much as I was moving rocks, doing landscaping, etc. These group PM's were read by me usually way after the fact or whatever incident happened. I accepted to be polite & it bit me in the butt.

Long discussions & fact checking was done in MSC & the ringleader was banned. But it seems he left his mark concerning my character.

But people still love to bring it up & imply that I am in fact a very nefarious character here on OBOB. But I think that speaks more of their character than mine.

My halfhearted acceptance of an invitation & speed reading along with my sporadic presence here during that time left it looking like I was actively doing things I had no intention of doing.

In short, I was careless & stupid for not giving it more attention than I did. But I had real life to attend to. *shrug*

I've even asked David in the past to look things over again so if he saw wrongdoing on my part to let me know so I could publically apologize on the board.

I never heard anything back from him. But I do think he'd agree I was careless & stupid for not paying more attention.

It was an ordeal because I had to read some posts more than once to understand what was being said .

I recall something our Jesuit parish priest did in the 1950s . A lady who was a "parish worker" came to the presbytery and started to tell him tales about another parishioner . He told her to go away and to not come back to him with such tales because if she was telling him tales about another she would only go and tell tales about him to someone . He was a no nonsense Geordie by the way .

Needless to say she went , and started to go to another church . As soon as we got a new parish priest she was into the sacristy like lightning , offering to do "work" for the parish . And again the gossip started all over again .

In fairness its only Bene (in the most part) who claims I'm anti-American and/or agressive.

There is no evidence of me being either, knowingly.

Bene has a thing about my interest in American politics. When discussing such issues I'm not behind the door in my criticisms of both Republican and democrat poliscies and hold my Pro-Life/Anti death Penalty beliefs proud on my sleeve.

Is that being agressive or anti-American..?

It was in reference to the things that drive posters away. S.ilvo does. Its not just Michie, its a lot of us. The way you people turns things around and pull things out the sky is what drives me away. I don't like a lot of y'all and this is exactly why.

You and when I say you, I mean you all, all of you with the exception of a few, you all don't read and make up stuff and I call you on it.

I can admit and have no ego hang ups where I can't admit who I am and what I do. I know it, I don't need anyone telling me. If any of y'all were man or woman enough, you'd do the same. This is not about cultural issues. Its about what kind of people you all are. Deal with and get out of denial about it.

Nope, you see? Problem is you can't deal with the reality that you are not the perfect thing you think you are. You are not the sweet loving tolerant thing you think you are. No liberal is. Its the nature of a liberal to be a hypocrite.

You are intolerant of anything that isn't liberal. Nothing to do with where you are from. And you are obessed with America, you have made it clear you dislike America cuz you point out all the time how bad it is, you don't like the conservative element of America. But Its frankly non of your bussiness.

As a fairly new member (who actually took a break from this OBOB during RCIA - this forum wasn't edifying at all), I can say that a bunch of topics with links to news stories looks to me like a forum with not much going on at all. It makes it appear that there is a lot of interesting activity and discussion when that is not the case.

Yes, there are some topics that are interesting and leads to lively discussion, but it's not that many, which does lead to the more interesting topics, IMO, being pushed to page 2 or 3.

To all those saying "is it that hard to go to page 2?", my response is YES! LOL! Most people have either short attention spans or not a lot of time to wade through multiple pages of forum topics. (That's why your evening news show is 30 minutes).

Me personally - I'm married, have a full-time job, and an 18-month-old little boy. When I browse OBOB, I look at what's on page 1, and keep it moving (I also do that with the other 3 forums I frequent). I generally do not have the time.

Michie, to answer your question, I think 5 and 5 would be a good compromise if you choose the very "best" articles. I do appreciate the links that you provide. I don't think you should go away and stop posting them.

You really can't make this stuff up. Michie takes a break from the forums, the forums seem barren and desolate, the problem is that Michie isn't making any threads. Now, a few users don't post and it's clearly Michie making too many threads....

Thank you BBCath, I definitely want to get off the merry-go-round & have for a long time. The problem was getting people together to hash it out. So I seized the opportunity.

I did this for the reasons already explained in this thread but I feel that others can chip in & I can be a member with more time to participate. I think 5&5 is good. It still gives people some news & it's not too much or too restrictive. But I have not come close to the number limit of 5 in each forum since I threw those numbers out. But I am not attached to those numbers, simply my opinion.

I'm not sure whether to open a poll or not. I've already decided I don't want to be obligated to it anymore. But if you all want a poll with numbers 1 to 5, or any other options, I'll start one.
