How about you scour the Internet really hard for the, say, 2 most interesting, compelling, and best-sourced articles you can find on any give day and limit yourself to posting only them? Less bumping required and a higher average quality of thread.

Ok, that's constructive but I don't think 2 is reasonable.

A reply like "complain to management then" indicates that you're no more willing to consider criticism and change your style than you have been any of the 30 other times this topic has been discussed. There are things which I'm fairly certain will never change. Michie will always flood the forum with spam and play the martyr when she's called on it, AMDG will never allow facts other way of anything that happens to conform to her worldview, WA will continuously fail to understand nuance, and Fantine will never be respectful of tradition.

Now there you go being personal Mike. I brought up bring staff into this in another thread but you did not want to. Complaining to management brings management into the issue. I have no problems with it.

Please stop assigning motives & caricatures to people.

So they get the benefit of your links and the forum is free from being spammed...

I personally don't see what the big deal is, a lot of Michies threads gander numerous responses(like this one) and as Davidnic said if a thread is of not much interest it doesn't tend to stay on the front page very long. I think it'd be a real shame if people complained to management about Michie, as she's a long term member who contributes a lot to the community as far as I can tell, and I find various things she posts to be of interest. Ultimately if you disagree you're welcome to make your own threads on issues/topics that interest you, then if others wish they can contribute to them. I've made numerous threads myself, sometimes they get a lot of responses, sometimes they get a lot of views and no responses, is just the way it goes.

It was a genuine question. You don't post in the main forum. Yet everyone complains that there's not enough going on here. Michie keeps things going and you tell her she's not entitled to post at all basically. That seems rude and confusing.

I like the idea of having one thread per topic too. Have a gay marriage spam thread, a Catholic blogger spam thread and a news-other spam thread. We can call them spam cans and you can keep them full and at the top.

Now you say some people enjoy your spam links. You have the option of pm'ing them to the handful of people who want to read them.

You came up with a spurious excuse that your spam links contribute to activity.

Out of your last 50 link thread, how many have gone passed the 10 post mark..?

Fact is the vast majority of your spam threads never get passed the very modest 10 post mark. So, for all your claims that they promote activity, the reality is quite different.

In fact I daresay when some come into OBOB and see it sprawled with your link threads they leave within seconds.

Is this me fighting? Or is your defensive reaction seeing it as fighting?
