It's going to take a while for people to drop the political lens in favour of a business one. The military-industrial complex is also struggling. No loss. The US and Russia has worked together for decades in space. Business is expanding in new directions as the 'green' model of building wealth deteriorates after 30 years in the limelight.

Besides, the US and all became buddies quickly with Germany and Japan also. Even Vietnam. Business. Take away the weaponry sales/profits, and things even out.

Yep, the part about foreign policy is true. What is also true is congress controls the purse stings which means 'no money, no action'. And my sincere hope is that congress will financially shut down any of Trumps overtures toward Putin/Russia. The situation reminds me too much of Neville Chamberlain's dependency on Hitler's signature on a piece of paper: 'Peace in our time' in Chamberlain's words just prior to WWII.
