I seen you talking about the drunken boxing either earlier in this thread or your other thread. Outside of tradition I would be curious how that got started and why its done.

Well I know the why to that. Chinese folk religion, and Buddhism do alot about venerating the dead and the gods with offerings. That is just part of the religion. Chinese Kung fu, especially shaolin, wudan and a few others are rooted in the Buddhist tradition. That's why we have the stereotype of the Kung fu monks. Like with almost everything else kung fu got its secular following but many of the spiritual practices were translated over into the secular sphere. And due to the nature of how many Asian cultures comingle religious and secular traditions no body over there really bats an eye.
My curiosity lays in is this OK biblically. What are some opinions of strong Christians Asian, American, or otherwise. What do theologians think? So many questions.

I wish I had something to offer on the other than I think he is just paying respect to and honoring his culture. As long as he is not praying to or seeing them as his god then I would think it would be ok. You are right someone more versed and in the culture will be or should be able to give you the answers you are looking for.
