• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Okay, I'm new to this part of the forum, so I'm going to do my best to try and follow the rules. Mods, please let me know if anything needs to be changed. Thank you.

I've started to get worried about a habit of mine I've noticed lately. All my life I've been big, and somewhat happy with it, as long as I was healthy. As far as the BMI is concerned, I've been obese my whole life. The BMI is pointless, however, but that's another rant for another day.

Onto the habit. I've noticed that when I eat more than a couple times a day, I feel like I've eaten too much, and that I'm gaining weight. I've been on Weight Watchers for a little over a month now, and progressing as I should be, until this last week. I've been having stomach issues which pretty much causes pain when I eat. My doctor thought something may be inflamed, and put me on clear liquids at first, then the BRAT diet, and then I can move to bland foods and finally restart my regular food, over four days if everything works out well. After having some chicken and white rice on day three, and the ensuing stomachache afterwards, I decided to stick on the BRAT diet for a while longer. Yesterday, I ate enough food that would be considered possibly a single small meal for anyone, over the entire day. As I was thinking about this before bed, I thought that I ate way too much, and that I was going to gain a lot of weight back from it.

So here's my worry. Is this a sign of something not right with my line of thinking? I'm going to try and see my doctor today, and I have an appointment with my counselor tomorrow, but I'm just kinda... freaking out a bit? Thanks for listening.

No matter what, if you're eating less than you used to you will lose weight. You won't gain weight just by eating a normal amount.
You're stomach is probably having problems because it's not used to eating less food.
If you eat a healthy amount of calories, say 1,800-2,200, and excercise regularly, you'll over time become the weight you're intended by God to be. :)
