Do you think that statements in the Bible about a blood moon are actual, literal futuristic events?

Or, do you think it is more of a poetic statement? Such as a reference to the mother and father, and the general influence of our parents on our psyche and our worldview. The use of natural phenomenon to describe psychological conditions, such as is done by poets, subconsciously.

What's the argument for or against the existence of God?

I don't understand what you are asking. I certainly don't question the existence of whatever the Hebrew prophets were attempting to describe. Be it a divine being or force or whatever God is.

My question is, does the "blood moon" refer to a literal blood moon? Or is it just a poetic symbol?

That is a point in question on the apologetics forum as far as I know. That's what we are supposed to be discussing.

Probably a reference to a lunar eclipse, which was presumably thought to be an omen of some kind.

My belief in a higher power is not in dispute. Nor is my belief that the prophets were sincere.

But the prophets describe things like this:
"For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light;
the sun will be dark at its rising,
and the moon will not shed its light." (Isaiah 13:10)

The author of Genesis made a bold move when he had Joseph's older brother equating the sun, moon, and stars to Joseph's father, mother, and brothers. Surely the author of that story in Genesis must have felt about the prophets the same way that I do.
