I saw that you were looking for suggestions, so I thought I'd say hello.

I’ve only just begun listening to smooth jazz in the last few months and I find it so calming. Don't you? I’m just starting to build up my collection, but I’m particularly drawn to the sax sounds.

I just bought Steve Cole’s “True” album and I’m really liking it. I took a listen to one of the tracks, “Metro” and “Just A Natural Thang” on his myspace and I just heard “Take Me” on The Wave this morning – it’s truly reflective of Steve’s fantastic sax skills, but it certainly shows how soulful the whole CD is.

The music of musicians like Pat Metheny, David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, and Sting is often classified as smooth jazz, and many of these artists are capable of performing well in multiple styles. The Allmusic guide article on "fusion" states that "unfortunately, as it became a money-maker and as rock declined artistically from the mid-'70s on, much of what was labeled fusion was actually a combination of jazz with easy-listening pop music and lightweight R&B
