Smoking

Are there any parents out there that smoke around their children?

My brother and I were raised with both parents smoking, but I'm happy to say that I never started. My brother and father have now quit, but my mother is still a smoker and she does try to keep it away from my daughters.

My best friend smokes..but in another room away from the kids and not shut up in the car with them..and NEVER while she was pregnant...Then I know some people and there more kids smell as if they have taken a bath in smoke..just curious

What I hate is getting lectured like I'm the smoker because of the lingering odor of the smoke...believe me, if I could force my mother to quit...I would.

My dad smoked around us kids. He still does, but takes it outside now. My brother has now adopted that rotten habit and has even "attempted" to quit. I remember when our 2nd son was smaller and my 2 nephews would stand around grandpa and imitate him. Boy, did us girls become upset. So they would ask grandma, why does grandpa smoke? Grandma would say, you'd have to ask grandpa. So I don't know if dad did explain. Now the boys are older, it's a bit easier to explain things. Like what smoking can really do to you.

I have a picture of myself as a baby sitting on my dad's lap. He's holding a cigarette in the other hand. Kinda gives me a bleah feeling.

I use to have a cigar once in a while at home but when my daughter was born that stopped. Actually before she was born.

Now I am still trying to kick the habit but have never let my daughter see me smoke (and never will). I would never want my daughter to learn about smoking or pick it up because of me.

... now I really want to quit ...
