• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm finally quitting smoking after 20 years. For anyone that has smoked, you know what a struggle and a horrible evil addiction this is.I'm doing pretty well I think, tomorrow morning will be one full day.I have been really cutting back the past couple weeks, trying to lower my nicotine intake etc.I know without a doubt that God is giving me the strength to do this.I,m pretty well over the physical withdrawl, but the mental urge to smoke can be crippling.I have been praying, but I would really be grateful if some of you would pray for me to keep going. Thanks everyone!

I reckon it takes GREAT strenght to fight the mental withdrawal. I've got great respect for you friend. I'm 16 and have terrible asthma in the winter. I started smokin after my mom died. When my pack runs out, I gotta go [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] desperate statues and rack up 7 bucks. It's gonna suck when Ima have to quit...

Don't underestimate the physical addiction. You won't shake it in two weeks. The mental urge is connected to the physical addiction. You have a long way to go. How much do/did you smoke (packs per day-smoked entire cigarette?, etc.). I quit after 15 years of pretty heavy smoking and have some advice that may be helpful to you. owg

I do not smoke, nor drink, actually no drugs seems to be of interest for me, and not sounding mean or bad or, well, like a jerk, I just cant understand this "addiction" thing, I always hear it as an excuse.

FOR ME, that is, for me its just "Eh?", as I lack the "addiction" weakness/ability, it seems, I just cant relate to it.
