  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

well....
In all honesty, if I see a cute guy, and then he starts smoking, he totally loses points. I know I know, dumb, but to me it's just not attractive.

on the other hand. I have nothing wrong with an occasional smoke. as long as it does not become a nasty and expensive habit, which it quickly can. an occasionaly smoke isn't bad. and I don't mind cigars either. I really like the smell of them haha. what is wrong with me? I really like the smell of cigs outside as well. not really inside, but outside it really calms my nerves..and no I am not a smoker.

although my lungs can't take having one smoke anymore. I sit up weezing all night. :p

so in summary of this insane reply....I don't think it's nasty if it's not a habit and daily thing, and think its okay if its an occasional thing. like once or twice a month.

Well, I'm a habitual smoker...just recently saved (December). Today is day two of quitting smoking...pray for me.

In regards to what Peteey said about a cute guy losing points when they light one up, quitting isn't about "looking better", but more like 2 Corinthians 6:16, when it says "...For we are the temple of the living God..."

I don't want God to come and dwell inside of me, and it be all smokey in there for him. He'd walk in with his white, heavenly cloak on...and spend his entire time coughing and weezing like Peteey after one cigarette, and walk out with his cloak all dingy and yellow...not a good picture

I don't like it but just cause someone does it does not mean that I will not have anything to do with them. I have a lot of family that does smoke and I can't really not be around it so it bothers me but not as bad as some people probably.

I really don't like it. Can you imagine kissing somebody that smoked? And hugging them, holding them close .... to smell smoke on their t-shirt. And yellow teeth. And trying to having a serious discussion with them, only to see them get stressed and start smoking in front of you. And of course the obvious - smoking kills, and not just the smoker either.

In the UK every packet has a huge label stuck over at least half of it, saying "Smoking kills". I don't think it's effective though. The only thing I heard that did work was one advert, where people were laughing, chatting and smoking, but clogged artery fat was dripping out of the end of their cigarettes. Disgusting, but obviously hard hitting.

It stinks, and it kills you. So I baffles me why anyone does it.

My best friend started because he thought it made him look good. Ew, no.

My mum managed to quit after twenty-five years of addiction, in spite of working most nights in a smoky bar, so I wonder why everybody can't quit even when they say they want to. Considering, too, that gruesome ad campaign sedulous_samantha mentioned - on one, they showed an artery of a person who'd died because of smoking, and squeezed all the built-up fat out of it. There was loads.

Me personally I think it's a horrible habit. I mean the smell of it is nasty. I don't approve of the smoking but it's still a sin and I still treat the person just like a normal person. I just might not get around them when they're smoking. It's just a nasty habit and when a person gets cancer later because of it they'll regret they smoked.

you are probably using the body as a holy temple verses (1 and 2 Cor) as your source here, right? what about smoking the ocasional cigar or pipe? if it isn't an addiction would you still call it a sin?

Smoking..honestly, I can't tell what good it causes. I tried it once way back when and I just couldn't get over the smell. I also second whomever says makes potential dating partners less desirable. I have a sensitive nose and cigarrette smoke just bothers me. I dated a guy who was a smoker...that was not a fun experience at all.

Hi.

You said what I wanted to say. If we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, why would we want to do that to His temple? :)

Being blind, naturally, I can't say how a person looks smoking...but the smell.

Can't stand the things- absolutely reeking! While I wouldn't shun someone because they smoked, I wouldn't date a smoker, it's just one of the things that I couldn't stand.

I'm a medical student; I've seen what they do to people's lungs- really manky. Not to mention that they increase your risk of practically everything. If you do smoke, seriously, give it up! It's really not worth the risk!

Having recently been injured in a flash fire at work caused by a smoker, I see smoking as disgusting, ugly, and now dangerous.

And I hope the old hag coughs up a lung while she's on her paid administrative leave.
Not to be judgemental, but maybe she'll spend eternity breathing in sulfur? ;)
