I think he is an inspiration, he is to me anyway. I have read much about him.
Can you imagine being a fly on the wall while he threw a dead body up against a wall!? or how about the time he dragged a dead body into a church by the hair, then ordered her to preach and she does!
God really is amazing, I think he is most amazing at NEVER taking any of the credit, none at all. Always trusting God, always believeing.
I read an account also about a time he was in an elevator, and a man got in with him, who he didn't know, the man quickly got back out and said to him "you convict me of sin sir". yet he hadn't even spoken! The Lord used him in a mighty way.

This is my opinion obviously, not here to debate :)

I have read lots on Smith Wigglesworth and think he is an amazing man of God. Never seriously educated and if I remember right was training to be a plumber or carpenter. He had been Baptist and other very conservative denominations at the time, but when the Spirit of God came over him all changed. You can clearly see rough edges in his message as far as if you ask God 7 times for healing then the first 6 times were in unbelief. I think that is a bit inaccurate, but the man was without a doubt full of faith and the Holy Spirit. Calling people from the dead, I even heard on one occasion an older lady he called back from the dead slapped him when she came back because she was in Heaven with the Lord and wanted to stay there. LOL I mean wow, imagine what kind of ministry we could have now a days if we could have that kind of faith. After all Jesus did say in Matthew 10:7-8 Preach the gospel, Heal the sick, Cast out demons, Raise the dead, and cleanse the lepers. So all of Wigglesworth ministry is covered by scriptures. I even heard that Ministers in training would be forced to go listen to him preach to teach them a lesson in the anointing. The story went that Wigglesworth was so horrible at speaking and grammar that he would fumble even through reading scriptures, but at some point in the service the Holy Spirit would fall upon him and no one in the audience could doubt the man had been filled from that moment on. Such an amazing testimony. I think he is an inspiration.

Isn't he the one that saw Handel's Messiah and at the end he was praising God out loud to the shock of the other concert goers? I guess he didn't realize it was only for entertainment purposes as far as the others were concerned.

I can't say for sure, but I know one story has him going to a funeral and pulling the body out of the casket. Standing the corpse in the corner and as the lifeless body begins sliding down the wall Wigglesworth points at it and screams "In the Name of Jesus, come forth!" and he does this 3 times all the while in between commands restanding the corpse up in the corner. Finally on the third command the person comes back to life and he and Wigglesworth both walk out of the room hand in hand. The funny thing about it is, as the story goes, everyone who witnessed this was so scared that they didn't speak to either Wigglesworth or the other gentleman the rest of the day. lol

During the late 1960s I was friendly with the man who was Smith Wigglesworth's pianist when he came out to New Zealand in 1922 and again in 1927. My friend actually witnessed some of the amazing miracles that took place, as he was in every meeting that Smith Wigglesworth preached at. Even over 40 years later, when he told us the stories, there was a light in his eye, and gave a really faith building message when he preached.

He said that when Smith Wigglesworth started preaching, he observed that Wigglesworth went up onto a new spiritual level and his preaching became very powerful and faith building.

It has been seen that no others could bear to be in the same room when Wigglesworth prayed because of the intensity of the presence of God with him.

There were other older people in the Wellington church I went to who saw and met Wigglesworth personally, and they all spoke very highly of him.

Pastor Smith Wigglesworth may have been a little bit autistic or perhaps had a touch of ADHD but he is living proof that our weaknesses can become a tremendous strength when we give our lives to God.

Reading about him, I think he was something special - to think he pretty much started Pentecostalism in New Zealand, seems they have a fondness for him there.

Just wondering, if any of you were to exercise such faith for healing, what's the key? Been reading a little about healing, but it seems it's more complex to grasp. I'd love to see a number of people around me healed, but I don't know how it all works.

fathomf5ve - there is nothing to grasp about healing honestly. It is a grace of God. Nothing you can do will earn you or anyone else healing. All you do is know the Will of God concerning healing. Once you know the Will of God in that area (or in any area for that matter) you act on it. You can only know God's Will by reading God's Word. Just like you can't know the will of a family member until you read the document that they wrote it on, you can't know God's Will until you read His document, the Bible. Get in the Word, study it and live it! I once heard Derek Prince say that he wanted to know God's Will concerning healing so he started reading in Genesis and read through the whole Bible with the intent of marking every scripture that lists healing etc and marked them in blue color. Well at the close of Revelation Mr. Prince stated that he had a blue Bible. Now I don't want to tell you what God's Word says about it, because it won't do you much good. We each have to study for ourselves. Let God speak to you. Observe how Jesus, the prophets, the apostles conducted their ministries then imitate them. God bless

fathomf5ve. I suggest you read some of Smith Wigglesworth's books. Ever Increasing Faith and Faith that Prevails are excellent. I also found a bio on him called Smith Wigglesworth: A Man that Walked with God an eyeopening and edifying read on what made this man tick.

An interesting fact about him is that he didn't read anything but the Bible. He believed reading anything else but God's Word was a waste of time.

I remember reading about that-- that he let out a loud "Hallelujah!" at the end.

Autistic? Maybe Pentecostal.

I can understand yelling Hallelujah at the end of Handle's Messiah in praise to God.

Maybe there was something wrong with the other audience members. :)
