Smallville just resigned for a 10th season! Woohoo!
I hope that's true! It's actually really gotten quite good over the past couple of seasons. It started strong, faltered for a while and then got a lot better. It would be a shame if they don't go out with a bang.

Will Clark ever turn into Superman at least in the finale?

They show hints of the "cape" in visions etc. If the actor does not want to wear the costume maybe on the last show they can show a cgi superman flying off in the distance.

Are they going to make another Superman movie on the big screen in the near future?

They are indeed. I can't remember whose writing/directing, but Chris Nolan (director of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) is 'god fathering' the project, helping it sheppard it along.

Apparently they have a saying, something like "no flights, no tights".

That's funny because other characters on Smallville have flown including cousin Kara.

Other superheroes have worn costumes including Green Arrow.

2 successfull movies have had costumes - Spiderman and another one flies - Iron Man. The X Men movies had costumes.

Why is Clark the only one who won't wear a costume. In the Superman Returns movie Clark Kent wore a costume and this was released during the Smallville years.

I don't get it.

Tom Welling is afraid of heights and is just being stubborn about tights. The saying "no flights no tights" is just for him.

He is deathly afraid of heights so he doesn't want to have to fly around on wires.

The whole tights deal is him just being a weenie. He doesn't want to wear them. Its in his contract that he doesn't have to...

Do you have any documentation references to back that up?

The persona of Smallville's Clark Kent is that he is afraid of heights. But I've not read or heard anything about Tom Welling being afraid of heights. (Also, they have had him "fly" in previous shows when under the influence of red kryptonite). And the guy is a professional actor. I can't imagine he'd have something as silly as "not wearing the Superman costume" in his contract for a show about Superman. Sorry, I don't mean to be critical, but it just sounds really unlikely.

I have never heard that about the flying.

However, as to the tights, I think that may be true. I've been a member of Kryptonsite for around four years, and that has been said about him not wanting to wear the tights for years now. Don't think it's just a rumor.

The flights thing may have been a joke. I read it in an interview with him...of course now that I have said it I can't find the interview.

I think this season he will be wearing the uniform, and he sounds happier about it now according to the Comic Con when he said he wants to do the suit justice and he doesn't want to wear it until the show has earned it.

Well there's certainly no reason they can't come up with a new spin on the style of the costume. And they're at a point where they do need to keep moving in bold new directions if they're going to keep the show running. I would like to see him flying this season as well. They've had to go to some pretty crazy lengths to keep him from it in the past few seasons.

Yeah the suit had different connotations in the past. Batman certainly gets some altered suits.

So, what do you guys think of season 10 so far?
I noticed at the beginning of the first ep, "and now for the final season" (or something to that respect) was mentioned.

So far I'm pretty encouraged that things will be at least as good as last season. I was seriously hoping to see Michael Rosenbaum with all the "Lex" content, and kinda disappointed when that didn't happen. But they have opened the door for him to appear later on, and I like how they've accomplished that. They're also really hinting heavily about the suit and the flying. Like it. They seem to be setting the whole season up to be a jumping off point (no pun intended) for the more traditional story of Superman.
