This isn't really that important; I'm just curious.
I was reading an article recently (to do with euthanasia, although that's not very relevant to my question) and I saw a Bible quote referenced as Ecclesiastes 8:8a. I was wondering if that "a" meant anything or if it was a typo?

that happens a lot sometimes you may see "a," "b," even "e" if it's long enough! they just mean the part of the verse. in that specific reference, it reads all the way to "to restrain it" in this reference: Ecclesiastes 8:8 HCSB - No one has authority over the wind to - Bible Gateway actually, I think the first part, "a" ends at the first ";" and "b" at the second, and so on.
