  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have been in small groups in the past, but not presently.
I have found that many churches stop small group meetings during the summer(which is foolish, IMO).
Being ion a small group is awesome. It is a way to form deep relationships, have accounability, and many tend to learn well from others. It is also great to have that group of people you trust to come together to pray with.
I would recommend small groups to everyone.

We are starting small groups at our church. So far, it has really bonded us together in our worship and makes church much more enjoyable because of the support through friends. We are all very cordial and helpful when we are in need, but actually getting to know the people well is a real blessing.
And as iHg said, the accountability really helps us focus on God more often, which I know is my biggest weakness.

BTW, WELCOME to the forum Sharri14.

Hey Dave, :)

Thanks for the welcome and thanks to all that replied to my post.

I am still in need of fellowship praying I will find a small group in my area.
I know my weakness is beibg consitent in going to church and worshiping. When your alone I find it harder then when their are others around that encourage you.

God Bless, :)

I don't know what causes you specificaly to miss sometimes, but I know that at times, I do not have as high a level of motivation to go to church. I think these are the times that we get the most out of sermons, because there is a reason that we are being attacked through motivational detractors. I also believe that the times that we do not feel emotionally up to going are the times when our fellowship means the most to the Lord. When we do it out of duty, rather than excitement, there are different charateristics of our committment that are shown.

Hello Sharri,

If your church is not planning to start anything up soon, have you thought of looking around you for someone who might pray regularly with you?

Prayer partnerships can be very beneficial, and prayer triplets too. You might even study the Bible together.

You don't even have to be in the same church, just so long as you can manage to get together with a couple of times a month.

Blessings, Susana
