"hail companion"

That and taking on other jobs like bountys talk to the local inn keepers they'll give you the details. Re the strange gems go "visiting" peoples houses you'll find one or two there. Burgling is generally easier during the day as the occupiers tend to go out.

Way to go.
I got the crown. Wow, the dungeon was no joke! First trolls, then swarms of Falmer, spiders and skeevers. I recently upgraded my dual-wield skillz so they weren't all that hard to hack thru.

Now that I'm done with that monster of a quest I feel like having some mead. Who's with me?

Actually, I've got an old friend who has become a brewer. I asked him about mead and he tells me he can make some. But he's in FL and I'm in NC! One day...one day.

I wish I had more time to play this!!
No doubt!

Just cleaning out your inventory and doing some transacting and a little crafting can eat up a huge chunk of time. Never mind actually questing!

it's probably my fav game
If you ever run into any Thalmor (like I just did!) on the road who are escorting a prisoner...just talk to the prisoner and free him. That makes the Thalmor hostile and you can whack them without penalty. Well, they do attack you! But you won't get a bounty or anything. And you get loads of Elven goodies.

Awesome. That was my favorite show for a while there.

It's a pain collecting all those masks. I hit some kind of snag and never assembled them into the big daddy mask. I was so drawn out at that point I didn't even care!

Ok, for you guys that want money, here's your quest.
Skyrim:No Stone Unturned - UESPWiki

Once you complete the quest (that is not only to get the gems, but the crown too) you get an automatic perk that makes you a gem magnet. Basically every urn or whatever I'm opening now is loaded with gems and a good many more flawless ones too. Right now I have 16 regular gems and 31 flawless gems in my inventory!!

My problem now is, who the heck do I sell them all to?

"Got me thinking, what if I'm the Dragonborn and just don't know it yet?"

If you're thieves guild Tonita will buy pretty much anything from you. Mages of various jarls will generally buy gems. Alternatively you can get married and your other half will set up shop and buy pretty much anything you sell them (other than stolen items...sell them to Tonita) and you get a share of the profit depending on how long you are away from your shared residence.

I deal with Tonita all the time. She's my main fence. Also Sadre's Used Wares. I tried the marriage thing once and couldn't get it to work.

I don't know what I did, but now merchants seem to have a good bit more money now. That helps given how many gems I have to sell!

"Can you enchant me a new sword, my dull old blade can barely cut through butter."

I have found 5 of the 8 masks, more by luck than design. Has anyone found any of the treasure mentioned in various maps...is it worth it?
I found a couple of the treasures. They were utterly not worth the effort.

"I mostly deal with petty thievery and drunken brawls, what I wouldn't give for a good bandit raid."

Found another dragon priest mask (two to find) and a wall that gave me three words in one go, had to fight a dragon and a dragon priest to get them though.

I'm now filling my book cases in my house in Makarath with various books and collections and I'm also trying to "Acquire" every different type guard shield so I can display them in my various houses. I have Makarath, Solitude (a gift from the Jarl..though I'm tempted to "acquire" another) White run and Riften.

I was at that wall yesterday. I set a record for how fast I took down that dragon priest. Dual-wield WIN!

I've been tempted to play wearing nothing but guard armor. But the armor rating sucks!

"Watch the skies traveller."

I have now added the Dawnstar guard shield to my collection. Winterhold guards don't carry any town shield just an ordinary iron one. There's only two of them as well. I also cleared out the museum to add to my book collection at Markarth.

I'm tempted to acquire some guard armour to sneak around in but being Khajit I think I might stick out even in guard uniform.

When you are playing Skyrim, do you give your character extra challenges such as a vow of poverty, or you can only use equipment you've found - no buying?

I've done this in Fate, but I haven't yet in Skyrim.

Perhaps -
Can't use any weapons, Magic only.
Or can't use Magic, Maces only.
Can't fast travel, must walk everywhere or ride a horse.
Can't wear armor.

I just put the Right Eye of the Falmer on my mantle in Riften. It's a bit weird looking, but I like it. It's one of the few personal touches I've done in the decorating realm.

That reminds me. I have some items in my chest I could put out. The Spellbreaker shield comes to mind. That would look nice in my pad!

I started doing that. I try to pick just one "crafting" skill to focus on. The Thief I'm playing only does limited Alchemy and virtually no Smithing or Enchanting. I'm also doing only swords and bow, was just using daggers and bow. Also, only Restoration for healing and little of that. I'm dual-wielding unique swords so any type of magic is hard to manage. I've got Chillrend and another unique sword...the name escapes me. It leeches life and stamina I think. No other magic besides Restoration. I even use a torch for extra light.
I rely on food, then potions in that order. I do lots of cooking! But that's not a "skill" even if I think it should be.

I think cutting out fast travel would drive me nuts!

The magic only idea sounds cool. Do conjured weapons count? I think that's how I did my last mage. And I tried to avoid Destruction if I could.

I found a cool companion in the Winking Skeever. I forget his name, but he's a Battlemage. He fights with sword or bow and uses Conjuration and Alteration to shield himself. I just started using him for the first time last night. My goal now is to armor him up. He's good at taking out bandits.

I think, however you want to do it. I try to think up a plausible back story for my character, he has taken a vow of poverty or he was hit by swords as a child so he doesn't use them. He's lovesick so he spends all of his money on jewels to fill a chest to impress the lovely princess, consequently he can't spend any money for anything else.

That's a cool idea!

I think what I've been focusing on is race. How would my Imperial gal play? How would my Kajiit play? Elf? But I like your idea.

My Nord was a Stormcloak to the hilt.
