technically it's free, but if you want all the gore and stuff cleaned up and for it to actually become your house permanently, you have to pay 12000 gold.

as for dragon weapons, I don't think there's any. There's a shield, but no swords or axes, etc.

I *finally* killed the dragon the ancient dragon that was stalking me, along with a blood dragon at the same time. So very very annoying when they gang up on you like that.

As long as you have the key, you should still have access to it. But with buying it, you get a lot more storage space, specific space for armor and weapons, etc. and if you choose you can keep the gore (I just always get them to clean it up 'cuz it creeps me out lol)... but this time around, I'm not even living in Windhelm; I've got the house, but I'm living in Markarth instead because the house is soooo much cooler :D I just use Windhelm for storage ^_^

ooh you're a tricky one :p I stalked the owner's mother 'til she gave me the key lol

I've never been quick enough to kill the guy before he kills the last victim... and the first time I ended up not being in the right place and had to chase him back to his place lol but yes apparently if you're really good, you can kill him before he kills her.

Well, that was an interesting experience lol A dragon just killed one of my assassin's contracts without me realizing it.

I fast-traveled to Morthal since it was the closest to where I was going and (as is almost always the case when I land anywhere now) a dragon attacked; but earlier, I'd gotten a contract through the Dark Brotherhood to kill somebody in Morthal and had forgotten about it. Suddenly as I was shooting the dragon, "Completed: Dark Brotherhood Forever" flashed across the screen and I was left to scratch my head. I've had dragons kill people before (actually this one killed about half the population of Morthal) but never one that I was actually supposed to kill.

Just a note on free places to live (for example my character is now the Arch-mage of the college of magic and has the living quarters and all the items in it): if you get married (I did) you can't live with your spouse in a free place. You can live in one of the houses you buy (like my home in Solitude) or the house of the person you marry (assuming they have a home).

Now I've just got a *ton* of side quests and misc. quests left ^_^

Approx how many hours did it take you? I was thinking of playing it.

Just to finish the main quest? I have no idea... I started out doing a lot of side quests before I even began the main quest, so by the time I finished the main quest, I'd sunk 92 hours into the game and I'm now at 96 1/2 hours. But some of that time was also spent leveling up skills, not just doing quests. Last time it was closer to 70 hours I think when I finished the main quest, but I was 11 levels lower than I was this time.

I so know what you mean frenzy... I'm contemplating making daedric armor and the TV the XBox is hooked up to cuts off half of the materials needed list ^_^

--
Will somebody please tell my Windhelm housecarl that just because I'm coming in at 2am in my Thieves Guild Master armor, it doesn't mean I'm robbing the place... I *live* there
Ok, technically I don't; I live in Markarth with my in-game husband Argis the Bulwark; but I do *own* the house in Windhelm... otherwise I wouldn't have a housecarl lol Seriously, every time I walk in, he says "Can I help you?" or "I hope you're not planning any trouble, friend."

I'm far from done, enjoying side quests. I've read that the main quest line, if you focus and hurry, takes about 30 hours... but there are well over 300 hours of quests in total in the game.

I've been waiting for this game ever since I first started playing Oblivion! I'm loving it so far, but my tv isn't HD so it gets frustrating sometimes when I can't read the words and the edges of the screen are cut off. I think Skyrim is a good reason to buy a new tv.
I did that! But it was time to replace that old TV anyway.

I've been playing for about three weeks now. Even with the occasional bug and awkward menu, it's a fantastic game. In every respect.

My brother and I (he is visiting for a week) are playing on my PC and we had to get a save character mod so we could switch characters. Yeah, the menu system sucks! Did I mention that?
:p

What game of this type doesn't let you switch characters??

I'm playing a thief and I've boosted up my sneak, archery, pickpocket, smithing and light armor up pretty high. Smithing is maxed so I could get the dragon scale armor. I realized I could enchant it, so I'm just now getting some basic enchantments together and got my armor pimped out somewhat. I actually like the smithing aspect quite a bit! I thought it would be a chore, but I find it fun.

Right now I'm cleaning up a bunch of side quests I've got built up. I started the main quest but haven't gotten all that far. I still need the shout to bring dragons down and keep them down...I forget the name of that one. I started the Thieve's Guide quest line. Now *that* is fun!! I'm getting back to that when I knock out these side quests.

No more distractions all you mammoths!!
^_^

One thing I'm glad I figured out is soul gems for the recharging of weapons. I have a couple weapons that steal souls, so that's a big plus. Also, I took some time to learn alchemy so now I have a ready supply of decent potions. Problem is, I'm not really using them!
