skype?

Hi everybody

friends told me that they use skype to make phonecalls all over the world because it's free. And even for local calls or calls to cell phones it's a good way to make cheap calls and the quality is really good.

ever heard of that? anyone experiance with it?

Yeah I've heard of SkyPE, apparantly it DOES let you make 'free' phonecalls around the world and all, but its a bit buggy from what I heard.

It's real simular to proggies like dialpad and hlaf a dozen others... so long as it's free they work realitivly well, but like most the others they'll eventually start chargin a subscription and the like. One thing you've got to remember is it's voice over ip connections so there is a slight amount of lag when you call someone, while itiniating the call, but after that it's fine..... though some folks you call if'n they say hello and don't here an immediate response they hang up hehe but there is genreally just a couple of seconds of that anyways. It helps to have a decent net connection as well, cause if you were to use say a dial up modem.... you might as well jes pick up your phone.

I can tell you one thing.. If I get a big pause when I answer my phone, I get mad. I get really choked. You say hello half a dozen times and there's nothing on the other end. I hate having my time wasted, no matter how long it is. So, if you're calling my house, you're going to get a receiver slammed down in your ear, guaranteed. lol

I've heard nothing but good things about Skype - it's probably the "best of the best" internet telephone services available.

ok. I tried it yesterday. it worked very well. (I'm talking about the pc-to-pc calling)
now I'll register for a credit and then try to call my mom at home and friends on their cell phones.

anyone good recommondations for small mics to use with a laptop? I borrowed my room mates mic yesterday.
