  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How are there not thousands of Skillet threads? I love Skillet sooooo much! :swoon: Check out these lyrics!

"This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everywhere you want me to be
The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be
...
The night is so long when everything's wrong
If you give me your hand
I will help you hold on
Tonight, tonight
...
I won't let you say goodbye
And I'll be your reason why
The last night away from me
Away from me." - The Last Night

"Despite the lies that you're making
Your love is mine for the taking
My love is
Just waiting
To turn your tears to roses
...
No
You'll never be alone
When darkness comes I'll light the night with stars
Hear my whispers in the dark." - Whispers In The Dark

So many more! I'm sure more people have heard of them and I'm just not seeing the threads. Look them up on youtube! <333

Well... I liked Collide Skillet and a lot of their old old stuff... wasn't too crazy of their last two albums though. They are a cool band though. Not really my style anymore but I used to really like them a lot (points to user name).

Yeah you're right. Invincible is what hooked me and I really liked Alien Youth. Collide was less my style, but It was still pretty good. I actually really liked several songs from Comatose, but overall I didn't like the "radio-friendly" direction they were going and they seemed to be going even further with it in their latest release. I still bought the album though. I just wouldn't describe myself as a Panhead these days.

The older albums were much better. Collide is arguably the best album they did. It really started going down hill with Comatose. But then, their music is now directed towards young teens. That's where the market is.

There were a few good songs on Comatose and Awake, no doubt about that, but they aren't albums that I can throw on and listen to the whole thing, then listen to it again right after. Good that they are getting out there though.

skillet is good i can see where u are surprised by there not being mroe threads for them... i'm of the same opinion about TFK i think they are amazing and there should be more threads... but keep in mind that there are so many christian bands out there that are favorites of diferent people... and the christian contemporary forum isn't the most active either...

Skillet is probably my favorite rock band ever!

I've seen them live 3 times :D The last place I saw them was the best. Last summer, Creation West, the crowd right up next to the stage was like.. 100 degrees lol, and it was late at night. Ppl went crazy! especially during Monster.

Maybe I am strange, but I liked Awake and Comatose the best so far. Comatose has that hard edge that I am looking for some times and Awake has just the perfect mix of everything I need. Also, I have the live DvD of the Comatose Tour. It is awesome as well due to some older songs they play in concerts like "Angels Fall Down" and others.

Lyrically, Awake is their worst album. There is a story to go with why but I'm unsure of how much I'm permitted to talk about. There are a few gems on it such as Lucy, Believe, and Would It Matter, but most of the songs are very hard to stomach. Granted, that is personal preference. Most of us whom were fans for many years before Awake and Comatose really felt they were on the right track with Collide as far as finding their sound, but then they got "inspired" by Nickelback a little too much and directed their songs lyrically toward younger teens.

I actually find it quite amusing how many people never even heard their older stuff. Even during the Collide tour, the band played several songs from older albums and people didn't know what to do because they didn't know the songs. Now days, if they played something from even AY on their tour, people would probably look at them like they are nuts. hehe

Skillet is AMAZING! I have seen them in concert twice, both being front row, first time front right, second front center! I got V.I.P. tickets and met them! It was amazing! I love them! They are AWESOME! They really helped me grow as a Christian! :D Yeah, I could talk forever about them! :D

I came in during the Comatose era! And I feel strongly that only real Panheads listen to ALL their stuff, they have changed so much over the years! I like their new direction. I loved their older CD's "Invincible" and "Skillet" didn't like "Hey You, I love Your Soul" don't know why! They are a great inspiration and they are great! No dissing Skillet "Awake" though, I have two friends who because of that CD, became Christians! So whatever they are doing, It's working!

I never heard of Skillet until I heard "awake and alive" on the radio a few months ago. Lyrically, they're meh (I've always had issues with Christian lyrics- not that they're Christian, but that they're often uncreative and unoriginal). Musically though, pure awesome. This is coming from a non-Christian.

Awake and Comatose were two of the worst albums they have done lyrically, with a few exceptions, mainly on the slower songs. It also doesn't help that John didn't write a good majority of the songs on Awake, which were written by different producers. Go figure.

I disagree completely.. Coming from a guy who likes every kind of music other than Rap and Country, they are everything you need in a band. They have the techno pop of "invincible," the worship of "Skillet," the moderate rock of "Alien Youth," and the in your face rock of "Awake," "Collide," and "Comatose." Depends on where you stand in music. You don't like ballads? Listen to their hard rock. Don't like hard rock? Listen to their ballads. You don't like rock? Listen to their techno! They have anything you want! lol..

I don't know if I'd call any of stage of Skillets metamorphosis techno per se... I thought it was more industrial but whatever...

I agree with NobiumTragedy though... I think Skillet, as a group of people who like to play music, is very cool. The last two I thought stunk though. Just my personal opinion though. They both have a very annoying radio friendly thing going on and now they sound like any other CCM group IMO... blah and uninspired lyrics.
