Artist: Skillet
Album: Collide
Song: Forsaken

I recall going madly in love with you
And I remember this
How could I forget?
Regret is a needle
In my neck
It’s slowly filling me
With poison
Spreading to my chest

Take my pain and numb me from this

Why do I have to beg
When all that’s left
Is a memory
Forsaken (2x)

I recall pledging my sole devotion to you
It reminds me how
Now I’m on my knees
My guilt consumes
Lost the will in me
Wasting away before you
Hold me closer please

Take my pain and numb me from this

Why do I have to beg
When all that’s left
Is a memory
Forsaken (2x)

Yeah, yeah, yeah
You break me

Forsake
You break me (2x)

You’re breaking me

I recall going madly in love with you
And I remember this… Tell me

Why do I have to beg
When all that’s left
Is a memory
Forsaken (2x)

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Forsaken
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Tell me why, why, why, why

Why are you questioning this song? If you're thinking that it's wrong to cry out to God in anguish over things that have happened in your life, you're wrong. Read the Psalms, David curses God regularly in them, but he then realizes that it's not God's doing. God encourages us to get mad and to yell at him for it, if that makes any since.

whats wrong for a "christian" band to play a song that does not have to do with God anyways?

Yes, the song is fine, but even so, if it was a song that held moral stands, but not godly standards, what would happen? People would jump all over it cause they have nohting else better to do...

I think that the members in skillet are great christian role models since i have met them on several occasions and they actually talk about their faith on stage and i admire that when i go see a christian band. Its hardly ever you see supposeldy christian bands talking about God and Jesus on stage. This is to reply to the person who said "what is wrong with a christian band playing a non christian song." The Bible clearly states that if you are not for God then you are against him and that there are no inbetweens. so that is whats wrong with it, its a sin but this song is in no way not a christian song.

yeah, Skillet is a really great band and they're good christian ppl too. I love the song, of course the whole cd is really good! But anyways... yeah I think it's another one of those songs [and albums] that doesn't really do the straight praise & worship stuff, so there's always gonna be ppl who question that. I'm not really sure why ppl are the insecure about Christianity  ? Anyhow, the song Forsaken really is one of those songs that reachs out and say that your salvation is based on your feelings, cuz at someone time or another we all feel forsaken ..whether that's by God or other ppl or things that we try to fill life up with. It's a great, afterall even Christians fall down and fail some time.

It's not a sin to perform a song that isn't even talking about God (not saying that this song isn't; it clearly does talk about the feeling of being forsaken), since not everything we talk about from day to day is about God. Talking about a TV show or something you saw on the way home from work isn't considered a sin, so why would singing a song like that be a sin? Singing about a loved one, or being hurt by someone you cared for (but not in a violent way) would be the same ethic. That verse is talking about what you believe; if you don't believe in God you're just as bad as one of His enemies.

Hey,

I seen Skillet there in December.; even had the chance to go and have coffee with them before the concert. During it, (being at front row center and all *cough*) ;) they talked a lot about God, and someone came up and was saying how people go about getting saved. It was nice, and it really helped me because at the time, I was unsaved. Although, the concert didn't actually cause me to know Christ, it helped me along the way greatly, to which I am grateful :)

Didn't you argue with me against this point once before? Just curious.

it is a song that is put into words what so many people think. they are being honest. many self-proclaimed christians have trouble saying these things cause they want to make sure that they have "faith" in Christ. but remember, part of our faith in him is having a REAL relationship.

Sweet point. I love that truth.

That song in ways does remind me of one of the Psalms. In fact in some ways I have felt like that in the past.I got to see them at shoutfest 2003 this last year when they came to my town. I was able to eat lunch and supper with them and talk with them after the show. They are awesome people and are very Christian.

Actually, I think you just need to have the right letters capitalized ;)

I recall going madly in love with You
And I remember this
How could I forget?
Regret is a needle
In my neck
It’s slowly filling me
With poison
Spreading to my chest

Take my pain and numb me from this

Why do I have to beg
When all that’s left
Is a memory
Forsaken (2x)

I recall pledging my sole devotion to You
It reminds me how
Now I’m on my knees
My guilt consumes
Lost the will in me
Wasting away before You
Hold me closer please

Take my pain and numb me from this

Why do I have to beg
When all that’s left
Is a memory
Forsaken (2x)

Yeah, yeah, yeah
You break me

Forsake
You break me (2x)

You’re breaking me

I recall going madly in love with You
And I remember this… Tell me

Why do I have to beg
When all that’s left
Is a memory

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Forsaken
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Tell me why, why, why, why
