  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would you explain to the skeptics why it's not "pointless, non-sensical, or moot"?

There have been several posters that have answered my question honestly, without ridiculing the question. Perhaps you should ask them.

Since I have access to the person who started the thread, why would I ask people who would only be speculating on the subject?

I noticed your post above. It doesn't explain much as to why you're asking. Would you mind going into more detail?

Because presumably they did not find the question non-sensical, pointless, or moot.

Do you usually question the motives and validity of a question in your forum ?
Can you not answer an honest question, or do you just not want to ?
I have no interest in follow up questions, I asked a question to get the Protestant position(s) on a theological question. Answers to the question are all I desire, perhaps you have none.

Most people here don't ask questions that seem non-sensical to me; or if they are non-sensical, I usually understand why they would ask it.

I was just curious as to why you wanted to know and you've more than sufficiently answered my question. Thanks for doing that.

If your hypothetical fellow said he was without sin than he is a liar and is calling God a liar and is therefore a sinner. To say that your hypothetical fellow is without sin would be saying God is a liar.

Even hypothetical people can not be without sin.

Looks like even your hypothetical fellow is going to die. ^_^

1JN 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

I think the question is so difficult because we can not get past the concept of one being sinless. We know from scripture that sinlessness in a man is impossible. Only one person was ever conceived and born without sin and that was Jesus.

Even if we could get past the first obstacle we are immediately confronted with the second. Our only example from Scripture of a sinless man died. Jesus was without sin and he died--but he rose again. I think the catch with Jesus though is that he became sin for us...so our sin was applied to him. It was our sin that killed Jesus.

So in answer to your question...I agree with Lotar (yet again) that hypothetically, if a man had no original sin, committed no sin and did not have to take on the sin of mankind...he would not die.

Are you able to post how an orthodox would look at this problem here? Since you asked such an off center question I am interested in your thoughts.

Peace

Rose
