Single crash survivors

Have you noticed how many of the crash survivors are single?

There's nobody on the show trying to come up with new ideas to get home to their wife/husband and kids.

This isn't really realistic, but I guess it makes for good television. The writers can have many hook-ups among the people on the island.

Maybe their lives were so bad in the real world, or they are all "running" from something, therefore getting home isn't important. On the island, they have a new life, so to speak.

That's what I was thinking.

Besides, the writers of Desperate Housewives have no problem with married hook-ups.
