  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

SPARROWS OF THE FIELD IN DENVER

Small bird splashes in the puddle
Left by winter's melting snow
While street sand forms a hasty beach
In front of city's muddy grate.
He does not know
Where tomorrow's meal is coming from
Nor does he screech a tale of woe
But simply flaps his wings
And makes the water fly
Before he goes to seek it out.

Perhaps God placed him there
While I was watching
Feeling little doubts
To tell me I can can muddle through
And grow to trust Him more
Before I too must fly.

Thanks Sandy Lou for the Emerson quote and Keil for your poem. Very touching, both in their own way.

Now that I am depressed, time to have some fun. We (or at least I) need to turn our sorrows into joys!

Keil's sparrow has the right idea....

/me goes to look for a mudpuddle to jump in! :D

S-Lou - I'm sorry for the sad and frustrated. I have seen some of the go-rounds on CM, and they do have a bit of a different tone than CF.

Keep smiling, though - maybe WV can point out a handy mud puddle? I think I'll always remember my first bike. After it rained there was a puddle on the corner that was absolutely excellent. I'd ride in and the back wheel would be off the ground with the bike supported by the training wheels..... peddle furiously, water everywhere!

Somehow mom didn't have quite the same view of things..... :^)

Yes, the sparrows poem is mine from about ten years ago. I still feel similarly inside, but my world was much more tightly wound then, making more poetry come out. I try to share it sparingly, though, otherwise people tend to run away and be ... threatened or something. It's too bad that rare thoughts too often brings them down to contempt and they get ground in the dirt.

And so to keep them precious.... you don't share the things you want most to share, and the glory of the rainbows aches silently in the clouds and the joy of the sunlight skips and leaps in its fountain firmly locked in the private garden of the heart behind the rusted locks.... but you know what happens when you share too much... and so you go back to doing engineering and eating fast food and try to enjoy what sunshine comes through the car window in between and in constrained quiet enjoy the laughter of the children when you see them. And even saying that may be too much.

So.... how about that weather we've been having? Yes, lots of weather...

I'm a guy, but I'll admit it freely - I like Singin' in the Rain and Brigadoon.

I like the part where Gene Kelly sweeps the water from the gutter with his foot.... and Good Mornin'. :^)

Saw plenty of mudpuddles today and lots of sparrows using them for bathtubs. I was watching them at lunch time and it reminded me of these verses:
Mat 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

Mat 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Mat 10:31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

If God values us that much then He can take all the pain and hurt we have suffered and use for our own good.

wv, some Prince is gonna come riding up and sweep you off yout feet.

Keil, there is someone out there for you who will love you and want to share the all those precious things with you.

We just have to wait and keep throwing pies at each other until it happens.

That's what I was thinking of when I wrote the sparrow poem.

And Kel?

SPLAAAAAAT!

As a side note, please pray for me - my sister Kellie abandoned and divorced her husband within the last few months, and the holidays are coming. I pray for her regularly, but it's going to be a hard time.
