  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everyone!
I recently went on a youth retreat and I noticed that a friend I had met wasn't singing yet he was a very strong believer. I asked him why and he said it was just because he gets more out of it if he sits and listens to the words and meditates. So I was just wondering what do you think is better, to sing or listen? I personally LOVE to sing even though I know my voice is horrible lol! I will sing as loud as I can, maybe because the band is playing so loud that even if I was screaming you couldn't hear me but anyway just wondering what other people think!

I think that both singing and listening are great. I help lead worship at my church and there are times that I won't sing on a certain song so I can listen and reflect on the words. There are times when I feel God is telling me to stop and listen. I love to sing but there are times when we just need to stand still, be quiet and listen. It's a wonderful thing. :)

Love ya in Christ

u guys seriously need to rethink your lives rather than worshiping someone who you have no proof of their existence.

Hi imnotsure,
Who said there is no proof of HIS existence?
I feel him and I experience him and I think all the other guys here do the same. Just because phisically it is impossible to mesure HIM he does exist. The Bible and tons of changed lives are quite a proof.

Just think of the wind. It is unvisible, but everyone knows its existence. Mostly because you see its work. Same with God.

Answer for your post above:
blessings are the things you can give and receive. After each post you get one, but also you can collect some too if someone just gives you or if you play quiz etc.
Health shows how much you appear here. If you post min. 3 times a day than you'll have 100%.

well i think that you all have valid posts. but i think that god has given up open human and ur souls. She has become wary of your prattle. Your prayers fall upon deaf ears.

I think though that if u beleive you have a right to, but dont base your life on it.
the bible is there to help you, you should not take it too seriously. If you notice no black's are refered to it, women's roles are very biased. In modern day all the bible is good for is to keep you from being evil and ... for example... not holding a lift open for sum1, or not holding the door open for sum1 else.

i prefer to sing  but thats cos of my angelic voice (well it is really horrible but hey :D )

i agree with berz here, its alright to refer to the bible occasionaly but you should not base your whole life upon it. there are many glitches in the bible, for example black people are refered to as the lowest kind of life, a whole people that are meant for as slaves. luckily modern society has tuned this"advice" out.
it is wrong to take the bible literaly at all times as we have seen from most historical wars. my question is this, why would god let human kind slaughter eachother in wars constantly when he has the power to intervene and create world peace?

Does free will tell you something? Most ofthen people blame God for things that are not His responisbility. Wars are one of them I think. We could choose to live in peace or live in wars. It seems the last one is more popular...
Yes God does have the power but he also set up some rules at the very beginning, those he won't change. On the other hand he moves when faith and prayer takes place.
At the very end though everyone will stand before God and will get his/her judgement.

I'm personally a singer. God moves in so many different ways though. I do know people who just sit and metitate on the words or they'll even sit down and read their bible. Personally I get on my feet, clap and sing and I love it! I'm sure God loves it too! Whether we are reading our bible, singing, sitting and meditating we are praising God and showing our love for Him and I'm sure He loves it.

:holy: imnotsure, u make excellent points and i honor u for that (me raises huge sword to honor imnotsure but then falls over cliff)

Annet said that war is not gods responsibility, but it should be his, it is pointless slaughter of one man to another, and some people are forced to kill eachoter or be shot (see WWII) you should read a poem by Wilfred Owen titles Dulce et Decorum Est

lol i was just joking about the methodist thing, its irony dont you see?

I'm not sure, but I think wontanly misrepresenting your faith with a faithicon is a violation of the site's TOS.

So everyone here needs to rethink their whole lives because you--a person nobody here even knows--tells them to. Ironic.

Book, chapter, and verse please.

So because people don't always do what God says, that's proof there's no God? Interesting. That's like saying that because you don't pay your taxes, that's proof that there's no IRS. Contrary to popular belief, God isn't a cosmic peaceforce.

how can we not be gods responibility if he suposedly created us and loves us?
how can he not have some vital role to play other than creator?

Some people choose to see evidence of the divine in the mundane. Some don't.
