Thanks for explaining and giving a clearer picture of this. I think, it all boils down to our attitudes. Those christians who have wealth, they are to be good stewardship. They can indeed help by giving. They have blessed others by giving anonymously. But some, in their giving, they still retain a lot of luxury for themselves. If I remember correctly, George Muller had thousands and thousands of money(maybe millions) in his hands but these were only passing thru his hands. He kept nothing for himself and gave to those in need, to the orphans and to the ministry. He died with ...maybe a few cents or nothing at all.
He was indeed rich in good deeds and prospered, but not materially, for he was poor. This man of God was humble and gave himself no luxury. I don't think there are many around who has this kind of attitude. Only God knows and can see what is in our hearts when comes to money. I believe there are those who give and have kept very little for themselves.
When we are so comfy in our life, we get used to all the conveneinces and efficiency of things. But one day, if natural disaster comes to us by surprise, and takes away our possessions, we would feel a great loss. This is for sure our first reaction to our material goods and possessions. Imagine, all gone! We are suddenly left with nothing but only our own life itself. Can we say, belssed be the Lord? Not easy...I'd say. We would struggle but I hope we will ever cling closer to God, more than before when we had wealth. That's why it's all in our attitude. It helps to think deeper and be prepared. We should be reminded that Satan too can promise prsoperity and fame. I'm sure we are not unaware of his schemes.
We are to be reminded that the love of money is the root of all evil, and not the money itself. We are to be good stewardship of the Lord.
God bless.
