  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi Guys!!!
I know it's post FOP, but I just felt that I need to say this. Amidst all the hype and energy of FOP, it's rather easy for us to loose focus on why we are there. Are we really worshipping God or are our emotions taking us over? Do we feel that the presence of God is really there, just coz delirious and hillsong is on stage? These are some things we do really have to consider, as worship comes from the heart. It doesn't really matter if we don't have hillsong or delirious on stage, as long as our hearts are right, we can truly experience God, and the experience will not fall short just coz a famous band isn't on stage. For those who think otherwise, I suggest you reflect again, coz does it really matter that we have a famous band on stage, coz the Person who we should focus on is God and not the band. That said, I really did enjoy myself during FOP, but I think it's really essential for us to prepare ourselves for such event in the future, that we don't get hyped up coiz of the music, but coz we wanna worship God. Coz if we let our emotions be affected by the gigue, then what difference is it for us to attend such events and going for rock concerts?

And I really have to get this off my chest... Sorry if some might find it offensive, but I didn't like the way rev kong asked for offertory. He talked abt 'worshipping God extravagantly'. I know they've gotta cover the cost of renting the stadium, but perhaps he could phrase it in a way like, 'pls give generously, we need to pay for the use of the venue'. He made worship sound like we can just pay. Again, worship comes from the heart, if worship could be bought, what difference is it from pple of other religions who donate money just to accumalate good kharma? And amongst us, there might be other non-believers, to them, Christianity may seem to be a paying religion, coz we have to worship God with extravagance. We have to worship God with all we have, not just with extravagance!!! But I must applaude him for chairing the comittee for this year's FOP, it's quite organised and well run.

I do concur with you on the bit about giving. Totally uncomfortable with the spirit behind what he said.

Seriously... If he being the head of the church cannot display total trust in our Father God to provide for the event, what more the "sheep" under his charge?

Hi guys, I'm from City Harvest. I know what you guys have been saying.

Ok maybe he (Pst Kong) should've phrased it in a 'good' way about the offering. Humans do make mistakes. But I feel his offering msg was great. Worship is truly not cheap. In the Bible, it mentions that David says that he would not give an offering to God that cost him nothing. It's not just about the amount but it's about our heart.

Inrsoul, I think you better be careful in your words. You cannot judge Pst Kong because of one incident. Does not the Bible say if you judge, you will be judged?

I am as his 'sheep' truly grateful to God to have a such great leader in Pst Kong. You cannot deny that he is a man of God. He started a church with only 20 members and now it's 20,000 member strong. He truly has the passion for God and it cannot be denied that he truly puts his trust in God! If he did not put his trust in God, do you think God would trust him with 20,000 members???

Pst Kong= great leader?
Let's just say man whom God has used greatly...haha. Though I do not fully agree with all the stuff he says(me more trad kinda guy), I've gotta agree with u that if his walk is not right with God, God won't place so many flocks under his charge. And if he leads u guys astray, you blood is on his hands, and he's accountable to God, so let us not judge k? Coz ultimately he's accountable to God. Again, i tend to think that he might have gotten too emotional during the fop, tt's why he said those stuff the way he said it.

Hiya!

Yeah, I apologize if I do sound a little judgemental in the previous. However, I just like to point out that if great trust leads one to say the things that was said, then the trust is a tad misguided. (Btw, I personally have heard the messages he's preached and read some transcripts of it) I do not come against the man, whom God has used mightily in the movement of His word, what I speak up against is only doctrine and teachings, nothing more. Remember what the word tells us to do? We are to test all things by the spirit. Even great men of God, like Paul, failed before, having known the grace of God, made an error that nearly cost him his life, but again, God was full of grace and mercy and pull Paul out of the clutches of death. Remember, I have nothing against your church and your members. Nothing do I have against brethren. Only teachings :) We are still One Body nonetheless.

I'll like to add a personal comment that a few of my friends and I felt after the event; the praise and worship was great. CHC did a good job of handling the whole event. It's never easy to do crowd control, I know so because I serve actively in my own church. But the one thing that really made us go "hmmmm" was right at the end when the call to offering was made, when the cost of the whole show was announced and then telling us to give generously. THat's where we saw the lack of trust. To us, it felt like emotional blackmail. Maybe you all are used to that, but not to some of us.

Having said that, I want you to know that it's just a feedback, I hope you don't take it too negatively.

Shalom :)

Personally, I know another big boo-boo in a 'Christian' event. My church gave out free tix to the PCK musical, as no one wanted to buy them. That higt was anglican charity night. And boy, did we laugh like mad. First the musical was sooooooo bad. The bishop was sitting right in front and there were scantily clad dancers prancing around him. Then Sheik Heikel came out with this big feng shui board, and went to the audience to sprinkle 'blessings' and give out 4D no. When he came to the bishop, he stopped and said 'I sense a greater force than I am, not one but two... nice white collar you have ther sirs.' Boy, we were quite angry with the whole performance, and kept joking that everyone needed to go for deliverance the next day. When the interval came, my friend shouted hallelujah, and we left during the intermission. Lotsa pple left in the end. What was supposed to be an anglican event turned out otherwise in the end.

Back to FOP, i went on sat night and i rmb tt delirious got canon wong to make those ooh noises. My tchr and I were quite amused by that, coz he was rather stiff, and he was supposed to preach at the 9.30 service at my church the next moring.

Hi Inrsoul,

Thank you for your feedback. No, I don't take it personally. I respect your view and understand your reason.

I can ensure you that Pst Kong never does that in CHC services. Maybe that nite he (as a human being) was stressed that the committee could not cover the budget. The success of FOP was not because of us (CHC) but it was because of God. All glory must go to Him! :)

I'm looking forward to next year FOP. I hope the crowd will be more discpline. I was disappointed to see young ppl leaving the hall when the preaching of the Word started and coming back just for the music. Praise & worship is not just about music/songs but it's about Jesus! Hope we all can educate our yth in our respective yth ministry. :)

Well, perhaps these people had problems with last yr's preaching? So they decided to skip this one? My friends weren't too happy abt the word spoken last yr, they were saying smth abt the speaker keep asking them to receive and don't need to give. While it's true taht many youths today are apathetic about the word and go to church more for the experience, I don't think it's fair to say that of the people who 'walked away' during the preaching at this yr's FOP. Personally, I'm not quite used to the way the pastor spoke, and was a little uncomfortable with all the hype and stuff. But perhaps it's just me, I'm a youth who can sit through a traditional service and the bishop's sermon and don't feel bored at all, but put me in a charismatic setting and I'll keep looking at my watch to check when will the service end. HAHA!!! We're all different and unique in the way God made us to be!
