Sinful OCD guilt help

Hello, dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

I have been having really really bad intrusive thoughts ever since I was born again. I was diagnosed with OCD as a child but it seemed to leech onto my insecurity and shame for the way I used to live after I turned back to God. I currently don't take anything but Lexapro so no OCD medication.. how can I get this to stop? I feel so blasphemous for having these upsetting and sinful intrusive thoughts and I immediately apologize to God because I didn't want to think it...

I get intrusive thoughts, God taught me how to block them out.

The two vectors I was getting them from was from seeing a part of the light spectrum that humans aren't used to, so it affected my subconscious with the extra "data" i was picking up from others. The second vector was my ears.

I find having reflective glasses on and listening to the bible constantly helpful, though just having some counter noise for the white noise would probably work just fine.

I'm not sure what causes the intrusive thoughts for you, but you might want to try different things in case it's a result of an extra sensory perception i.e. the body trying to imitate the divine.

Re the OCD people, I believe it is what is called spiritual torment, and today it occurred to me that it might well be the torment by unclean spirits, demons, referred to in the Gospels. Unlikely to be a reflection on you, but rather, as a gratuitous and heavy cross, a tribute to you and a gift.

I know I'm in good odour with the Lord now -I'm reassured of it every day. Nevertheless, I think part of my OCD trials might have resulted from looking at pornography online for a period of a few weeks in the latter stage of my marriage (hydraulic problems, statins etc). It can't be discounted, but neither is it certain.

The irony is that, at other times, before and after, on the rare occasions that I was about to experience a nocturnal emission, I used to wake up rather than sin in my dreams ! Then, when I was a good bit younger, I had to touch myself, simply to get back to sleep.

However, even when you think you are innocent and in a sense are, it's always as a result of Original Sin, so I always preferred to confess it. God and I both know, I can't justify myself before his inifinite goodnes and love, so I don't even try to kid myself.

In a queer paradoxical sense, I feel there's something quite beautiful about us being sinners, over against God's goodness, even after we do our best. Though you could twist yourself in knots trying to fully understand it. Watch this video and you might see what I'm trying to drive at:

Have you talked to your doctor about the thoughts? If not that is the best starting place.

Not a doctor, but a therapist. I wan't to talk about it but I feel intimidated

Talking about those things can feel intimidating. And it's also important for your doctor to know what your symptoms are.

OCD LOVES to latch onto things like our relationship with God! Anything important to us that it thinks it can ruin, it will! Have you learned strategies for dealing with OCD in the other areas in your life? Those same strategies can also be effective for religious OCD. If you like, I'd recommend joining the Facebook group "Christianity and Anxiety Disorders," which has a lot of people with similar struggles. I can also recommend some good websites, and/or talk more about my experience with religious OCD if you'd like.
