• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I basically agree with the point of the OP, but for the sake of discussion it should be noted that life doesn't consist of neither black/white, nor grey. It's in full colour.

It's good to be mindful of our behaviour and intentions and the details, but if we look at life through the lens of the law, we'll fail miserably.

A good and holy life doesn't come about by constantly determining whether or not this or that is legal or illegal, but by abiding in the love of Christ :)
Hi Holo, you have returned.

Sorry mate, I haven't read all the other stuff you have posted, but when you follow our Lord Jeus Christ there can only be right or wrong. Now if you want to work in the "grey areas", now you know as well as I do and everyone else on the forum that you will open yourself up to the enemy.

Sin is Sin, and you know that as well as I do, and everyone else does on the forum, or that is, I pray so!

OK, an obvious example: drinking wine.

Is it sin? Or what about eating meat? Is that always sin? Can it be a sin sometimes? Of course, Paul mentions that specifically as one thing that's not inherently sinful, but that may become sinful.

Likewise, the prostitute Rahab was justified by her works (according to the NT!), and her works were to lie and hide two spies.

Neither Paul nor Rahab opened themselves "up to the enemy" - they did the exact opposite.

Sometimes even the "right" thing is wrong. I know it's an idea that scares the hell out of a whole lot of christians, but it's time they take that step in faith and stop relying on categorical rules instead of actually training up their senses by using them to learn to distinguish between good and evil.

Life can't be lived according to a list of rules, and that's why Paul says you are DEAD to that whole way of living (the law isn't just a set of commandments, it represents a way of living).

Let's not be conformed to the ways of this world.

If we say that we have no sin , we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:8-9 NAS)

What some may consider “little” or “harmless” sins can be our downfall, that is, “stretching the truth,” for example, is actually lying. Gossip is nothing less than character assassination. Working in the “grey areas”, between white and black is sinful.

The sad thing about it all is that, those little sins will inevitably grow into bigger sins, and before we know it, we’ll need to do some serious confessing, repenting, rebuking, and renunciation.

If some little sins have crept into our spiritual life, then it’s time to deal with them---now!

With the help of the Holy Spirit, we need to identify them---now!

Once we admit our guilt, confess our practices aloud to our Lord Jesus Christ, repent, and get rid of them before they ruin our entire life.

Today pull up the little weeds,
the sinful thoughts subdue,
Or they will take the reins themselves
and someday master you.

Sadly, the most deadly sins do not leap upon us they just creep up upon us.

Remember there is no little sins. Sin is sin.
That sounds legitimate. I've noticed that too. All it takes is one decision, and you've opened up a dangerous avenue in your life. Say for example, you tell yourself, one night, just one night, I'm going to go to this bar. You go there, and not only get drunk, but make a bunch of friends. Some friends that listen to the same music as you, like the same tv shows as you, like the same hobbies as you, but tempt you to do bad things. You may even develop a relationship. But the point is, now you have a sinful fixture in your life. Especially if you go to a strip club, then you are surrounded by people who are making bad decisions, and some of which have based their whole life around bad decisions. You want to stay away from locations where people are making bad decisions or causing drama. I'm not saying judge the people around you either, just watch out that you're not easily swayed into doing something that you might not do if you thought about it (kind of like the accuser of the brethren telling Jesus to worship him if he gave him the kingdom, although Jesus shut that operation down). Satan, the accuser of the brethren, whatever you want to call him, if you don't want to sound preachy, is everywhere, especially if you are a believer. But you can overcome him by the word of God, and by the Holy Spirit, you now have the option to not give in to temptation and circumvent it.
