Sin, forgivness and the old testament: Strange question...

Hi guys

Obviously, for those of us in Christ, we're forgiven of sin, which is awesome, but what about those guys in the Old Testament that furthered the Kingdom of God but didn't get to know Jesus as their saviour? Do these guys go to Hell or what? Do they work under the old Jewish Traditions for salvation and the necessity for Christ's forgivness only became necessary at the time of the new Testament?

This is really confusing me, especially when I read a bit in the New Testament about Jesus talking to Elijah, who died years before he could recieve Christ.

Does anyone have any Biblical answers as for what happens, as I can't find any...

Those of the old testament are the elders mentioned in Revelation and they are saved just as we are for they followed the will of God which is true obedience. Rev says there are 24 of them so that should give you food for thought and material to search out. as to who the 24 might be. But don't get stuck in this for if it takes your focus away from Christ it is not a good thing. You also have twelve gates and twelve foundations which are the apostles.

They where forgiven by virtue of faith, and they were saved, or regenerated through Christ when Jesus deceded into Sheol after his death to rescue those who died before the messiah came. when he got down there, he announced his victory, and those who where righteous had opportunity to put their faith in Jesus.
