  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In yesterday devotion, we saw were the old man, who was a slave to sin, is crucified with Christ on the cross. Before we were saved, sin controlled our life, and Satan was the master.

Therefore, since sin, the old man is crucified with Christ sin is destroyed.
The word destroyed means: Unemployed, sin is out of a job; sin is deprived of influence and power over us. We are free from Satan's rule.

Paul said we needed to understand what happen on the Cross and how we are crucified with Christ, and sin no longer has the power over us.

Sin was punished, and it was Jesus that was punished in our place.

He forgave and redeemed us by His blood. As Jesus said to the disciples, the truth shall set you free. And Jesus is that truth.
Sin no longer has the power to condemn us. Jesus was condemned in our place. We were forgiven and set free from condemnation. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.

We are in Christ; we were crucified with Him on the cross. The last part of: Romans 8:1 who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Anyone who tries to earn their way to heaven through the works of the flesh is doomed for failure.

It is through faith; we believe all of this happen.

When we were under the power and influence of sin, we were condemned, we were the enemies of God. Because of sin, we were spiritually dead. The wages of sin is death.

When we were under the power and influence of sin, we were not forgiven and God knew every sin we committed. And if we had not received Jesus as Lord and Savior, we would have had to appear before God without any hope of another chance.
