  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does it bother anyone else that (in the context of christian theology) the particulars of what is or is not sinful is a matter of judgment as often as not? It seems to me that if you'd burn in hell for all eternity for sinning, you'd want to be pretty damn sure what exactly was sinful. I mean, it seems like the Catholic Church can just invoke its own authority, but I think Protestants at least should have an issue here.
Christianity is a bit like democracy: it's tribal, popular, deferred to even by its enemies, and wildly irrational.

What do you mean by "just"?
The consequences of the moral relativism implied by Socrates's inquiries is a primary reason he was executed. Moreover, an argument that takes christianity seriously has to presuppose that morality is absolute. Consequently, I won't play that game with you.

another thread, where the operative word IF, is followed by another mistaken assumption.

Sinning isn't how a person damns himself to hell. Rather, it's rejecting God/Christ as personal SAVIOR in soul & mind & body, as you so live...

Iow, a saved person, having Accepted  & momentarily Welcomes  Christ,
is also Accepted & Welcomed by God to live with Him  (ie Heaven) - and now presently, & as well in soul~mind~body eternally...

Semantics. If you never sinned, you'd hardly need forgiveness. Not that (Paul believes) that's possible, of course.
