  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

SIN AND SINS
Perhaps one might not realize the difference between SIN AND SINS as shown in the Word of God; and it seems important to see the difference to help in understanding our nature as fallen Beings before our Holy Creator-God.

Let us meditate on this distinction by noting what God says about it. Initially we need to know: "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23). We need to see as God says that we are a fallen race --people (Gen. 2 & Gen. 3); and thus we naturally indulge self and sin by our nature. Some professing Christians speak of obtaining 'sinless perfection' since they began believing about the Lord Jesus, but that is the deceit of Satan to make us think all is well. WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE FLESH (natural self-serving desires) while yet in this world ---so real "born again" Christians need to judge it before God and continue forth with Him!

The exhortation of God to the TRUE "born again" saints (as John 3:16 and as the Epistle: 1 Jn. 5: 10-12) is to NOT live and act in the flesh (carnality); which mankind likes to do (1 Cor. 3:3), for we are thus dishonoring God and will thus FORFEIT MUCH BLESSING now, and for eternity at the "judgment seat of Christ" in Heaven (2 Cor. 5:10). The "born again" believer has a spiritual birth (John 3:16) and must see his/her place before God and walk and live in holiness (Rom. 8:4; Rom. 10:3; Eph. 4:17); not in pleasing our flesh.

Such a Godly state as our God offers and that one has truly owned ---CONFESSED their sinful nature and received God's salvation and cleansing by RECEIVING the Lord Jesus into their heart; then we are called to walk in holiness to honor God. That is not sinless perfection in our walk, but which must be judged DAILY to keep us honoring God (though saved for Heaven), and speaks of our STANDING before our Creator-God ---though Satan will always work to stir up our flesh while in this world. Let us be mindful of the "high calling of God in Christ Jesus", as our Bible shows us.

Yes, we need to see God's standards, which are for all mankind; and we can thank God for His grace that salvation is now in the Lord Jesus, who washes us (who trust Him) from the stain of sin, and who paid the price of "redemption" on the Cross --our only hope for blessings and eternal life in Heaven.
I am thankful I am not called to keep a listing of rules, sacrifices, and ordinances as Israel to be saved; but by the grace of God in Jesus --the Christ of God, I am saved and on the way to Heaven (though I fail much daily ---and do seek to confess it daily and keep my mind "stayed" (Isaiah 26:3) on my Lord and Savior, who is Lord of my life and 'best Friend' too.

Whatever is not of faith. (Romans 14:23)

@LoveGodsWord
True, it also means to break anyone of God's 10 commandments *JAMES 2:10-11; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; ROMANS 3:20; EXODUS 20:1-17

Faith and repentance are connected

Faith involves both a mental assent to the truths of the Gospel and an embracing of those truths personally by the person who assents to them.

Repentance
is a change of mind, whereby the sinner agrees with God regarding sin (transgression of the law), turns from sin, despises sin, hates sin, and rejects sin.

Mental assent is not faith. I believed Jesus was the Son of God, died and rose again years before I was saved. I believed, but it was "so what?" as far as I was concerned. Believing in the heart and confessing verbally brings faith.

mental assent is agreement with God (us admitting) that we are sinners when the Holy Spirit makes us aware of our sin (transgression of the Law) we are made aware of our sinful state.

and yes .... takes faith to believe in God in the first place, also the law bringing to mind of our sin (and our need of Jesus our savior), asking for forgiveness, turning away from sin (repentance)

Faith and everything connected to it comes from Jesus. There is much connected with faith.

Hebrews 12:2

Berean Study Bible
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

There is a lot that is connected to faith.

@Aussie Pete to you go to church where Hiillsong is the worship team? If they don’t repent aren’t they still in their sins?
No, I have nothing to do with Hillsong. I don't like their musical style. We have a home based fellowship so we are not big. We don't have a worship team.

Repentance follows conviction of sin, which follows the preaching of the gospel. Then the individual must accept the death and resurrection of Christ as applying to them as an individual. In order to be born again, they must receive Christ, not just believe a set of facts about Him.
