Sin was not caused by God, so how did it happen or come about. It came because one of the highest angels allowed sin to developed in the mind and he spread it to others and had to be cast out. God was in no way responsible for the development of sin or any of its consequences, it clearly lies elsewhere. Lets see what scripture shows us...
Revelation 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
So does God cause man to fall?
James 1:13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
The basis of sin even in heaven is found in self-exaltation.
Isaiah 14:12-14
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
So what is sin, the Bible clearly shows it, it is going against Gods love and the Law is the foundation of His love.
1 John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1 John 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
Romans 13:10
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
The definition of sin is "transgression of God's law" or doing things by a way other than by God's way. But since God does everything right, sin means doing things in the wrong way. Sin is unrighteousnes in action, it separates us from God and righteousness.
It is the nature of sin to separate us from God, which ultimate leads to eternal death.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Isaiah 59:1-2
1Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Sin is when we turn to self, rejecting and in fact asking God to leave us alone, to depart from us and leaving us in the dark.
Job 22:17
Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?
So if we ask God to depart and separate from Him what is the end result?
James 1:15
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Proverbs 8:36
But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
So how do we turn from sin?
Proverbs 12:28
In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
Sin originated in heaven in the mind of Lucifer who is the devil. He opposed the law and the government of God. He declared that his way was better than God's way. Satan deceived one third of the angels. He did this by telling lies on God's character, government and law, and was the first to suggest that God's law was burdensome or grievous and that it ought not to be obeyed. But what does scripture show us.
1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Sin transgresses God's law, opposes God's Government, separates us from God and ultimately, whenever it is finished, produces death. We by obeying God prove Satan wrong and God right, and Gods mercy and grace allows us to cast aside being slave to sin and go and sin no more, and prepare for eternal life with Him.
