Didaskomenos, sorry, but your post was very good and pointed out that just because something is called a myth does not mean it is not true. I haven't addressed it because I agree with this principle.
As for I Corinthians, Paul is right that the basic Christian message is foolishness to the World, and we should not be influenced by their scorn.
But this scripture is all to often used to argue against any particular aspect of secular knowledge that the "World" has come up with, but the speaker does not approve. God does not, based on this verse, want us to be "foolish" or ignorant about His creation. He just wants us to accept that our basic belief system itself will seem foolish.
Again, it gets back to the lesson of Geocentrism. God does not want us to hide behind "the foolish to confound the wise" and avoid the truths we discover about His creation even if it conflicts with our current interpretation of Scripture.
