Greetings!

My name is Will, though to my Muslim friends I am known as Zahir. I am a Muslim convert. I share my religious teacher's fascination for Christian theology. I find similarities with the Catholic conception of tradition, Protestant simplicity, but most importantly for this post, Eastern Orthodoxy for adhab (manners).

I find that the Orthodox position on many things mirrors the position of the Sha'riah. I know that while there have been conflicts, we have lived side by side fairly well in many places (lets just say there are more Orthodox minorities in Muslim lands than there are Druids in Britain), and in some ways the contact that the early Muslims had with Roman (because that is what the Byzantines called themselves) scholars led to the maturation of Muslim theology.

Cutting steadily to the chase, I view these similarities as stemming from the Orthodox traditions links with early Christianity. I think it is less corrupted by Western Paganism and therefore more akin to what Esa (as), Jesus was actually saying. However I wanted to know how you all viewed it. Was it that we borrowed wholesale from your tradition? Or did our cultural contacts create a bleeding effect?

I pray you are all well and your affairs are in order.
