  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Silly question:)

In Greek the words for earth (γή) and moon (σελήνη) are feminine (grammatically). In Hebrew earth is feminine but moon is masculine.

The moon is also feminine in French.

This may have influenced English: in the KJV, Mark 13:24 reads "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light," although modern translations say "its light."

It is often said that the Moon is the lesser of God's creation of light, as also is the woman as taken out of Adam who was created by God to represent mankind. Lesser would represent a weaker feature.

I don't know of any Scripture that supports this. Would you please let us know why you say that Eve (representing all women) is weaker than Adam?

You might see 1 Pet. 3:5-7 as one, but all Scripture shows in the union that the man as leading (even in the Church), and is first responsible before God. It in no wise de-valuates a woman. She can be faithful and serve and please the Lord. Adam was instructed of God, but he yielded to Eve, which made both sinners (which has passed down in pro-creation) so we are affected by sin.
Let us not miss the context in which I stated that.
