I apologise in advance for asking this.
Do you think it's OK to read the Bible (or listen to it on an mp3 player or something) while on the toilet?
Umm, sure, I guess. As long as your intention isn't to offend or show disrespect, then why would it be? :)

Actually this is a question only you can answer. In unclear matters such as this, it all comes down to the heart. Everything we do should be to the glory of God. Personally I don't do that as it seems to be disrespectful to God's word. But that is not to say it's sin for everyone. Paul made it clear that things that are sinful to some, are not sinful to others. If you can do it with a clear conscience, then it is not sin (unless it's clearly prohibited in scripture). I strongly suggest reading Romans 14 for insight on this. I think it will answer your question.

Having said all that, I might suggest that the mere fact you brought it up here could indicate you do not have a clear conscience about it. (I could be wrong.) If that is the case, do not do it. But if your conscience is clear and you can do it feeling confident that it is right, there is nothing in the Bible against it. Hope that helps.

Rom. 14:5.....Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

This is a very good response.

On a lighter note, if you do think it is okay, be careful not to drop it in.

"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." - Colossians 3:17

Why not? I do it all the time. I get some of the best inspirations while sitting on the can. The goal of reading the bible is to get engraved into your heart.

"And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." - Deut 6:7

I suppose we can include when we are sitting down anywhere in our house.
