I Watched a You-tube video of this movie of the Japanese persecution of Christians especially Catholics in the 1600s. It looks interesting and thought some here might be interested in it.

"Martin Scorsese's adaptation of Shusaku Endo's Novel "Silence" is not only a masterwork of filmmaking but also an uncomfortable and profound meditation on Christianity. In this video essay I explore the spirituality of "Silence" and its deconstruction of faith."

I’ve watched this before. Nice analysis. I haven’t seen Silence itself yet, and had set it aside to watch, but was paused by a reviewer who mentioned it would depress anyone already struggling with their faith.

I watched Silence. I read the book even before that. Yes, it is depressing. And yet I think it is a call to be a martyr if it comes to that. The plain believers would respect that over the sophisticated mental anguish of apostasy. Just my opinion.
