The deeper meaning behind it was awesome...like the part where Mel is sitting next to Joqauin on the couch and telling him there was two kinds of people in the world. Some that saw the lights as luck--but deep down they knew if it was something bad that they'd be on thier own and that filled them with fear. And the other group that saw the lights as a miracle and that they knew that no matter what they wouldn't be alone whether the aliens were good or bad and that filled them with hope. It's a total comparasion between atheism and believing in God!! Mel Gibson's character had given up on the idea of God because of his wife's death but then comes to see that NOTHING is a coincidence...everything comes together for a purpose! Scary thriller movie turns out to be very spiritual---fabulous movie!
