Name: Sierra Riley Zeiler
Age: Now 25
Appearance: Before: she had long light brown hair that she usually kept either braided or pulled up into a ponytail. She was never really that concerned about her appearance, as long as her clothes were clean and looked nice. Most people would probably describe her as scholarly due to the fact that her freckled nose was usually buried in some sort of book and she was always quick to offer her opinion if asked. After: her perceptions changed. She tried to keep her hair long as long as she could, but it soon became more trouble than it was worth, and finding a pair of scissors in a drawer, she cut it off to a more manageable length, but left it long enough to at least be pulled back out of her face. She no longer cared whether or not her clothes were clean, she was just grateful to have something to wear.
Personality: Before: completely outgoing and at times, quiet. Sierra had her moments when she wanted to be alone, but most times, she enjoyed being with other people, especially her family and friends. After: after the Day, Sierra slipped into a depression and was prone to frequent fits of rage against anything and anyone. The fits of rage slowly subsided after a day or two, but she’s still prone to slip into a blind rage if something angers her enough.
History: Before: Sierra was the oldest child of Mark and Amy Zeiler. Even though she always put forth a façade of happiness, her life was far from perfect. Her father was a deadbeat, who refused to even acknowledge that he had children. When she was eight, Alexander was born, and her father seemed to do an about-face and was pleased to finally have a son, yet he still completely ignored Sierra and her mother. Things got a little happier in the Zeiler family, but when Sierra was twelve and the twins, Addison and Abby, were born, Mark once again became a deadbeat and shortly after the twins’ birth, completely abandoned the family and walked out on them. Any type of extracurricular activity was now out of the question for Sierra, since she had to hurry home from school to take care of her siblings so her mother could go to work. Her mother remarried after Sierra graduated from high school, but her new step-father was not interested at all in the children, and Sierra decided to go to a university that was close by so she could still stay at home to help out. Her mother started to get into some bad things and social services threatened to take the children away if her mother didn’t straighten up. Things just steadily got worse, and when Sierra was 20, she fought to gain full custody of her brother and sisters and won the case.
After: after the Day, Sierra woke up to find an empty house. She frantically searched for her younger brother and sisters, but was unable to find them. She ran out of the house and looked up and down the residential street they lived on, but there was no one outside and no one in the nearby houses. She was all alone…and she had no idea how to cope with that fact.
