Okay. I came onto this site because i had so many questions about God and religion and I figured that no one here would judge me or think I was stupid. At first things were great! I made a lot of new friends and found out that I was definatly not alone in this whole thing. But after a month or so of chatting on this web site, i found out that people here are just as coniving and closed minded as the people that go to my school or that i run into on the street.

how can people call themselves Christian when they go onto a Christian website and bash other people just because they think a little differently? I am not saying that everyone on here is like that, i am just saying that in the past week or so, two of the threads I was subscribed to were closed because people were insulting each other and calling names. I am not going to stop going here because I really do want my questions answered and some people on here are so sweet and nice. but i think that if you are someone that is being so disrespectful to other people's beliefs, than this is not a site for you. But one thing to remember is this: Christians are sinners. Christians are imperfect humans.

Have patience with all people.

I know how you feel. It makes me mad sometimes too. You have to remeber though that Christian is just a name, anybody can call themselves one even if they don't follow the basic principals of it. Also Christians are sinners just like anyone else.

You're right, bashing is bad; calling names is never cool, and it always seems to result from emotions. When two people are discussing, even when there is disagreement, as long as one is hearing another, things are fine. It is when reason is thrown out the window that people turn to name-calling.

Disagreement on the other hand, is understandable as it comes from the differences among Christian denominations. Each group/individual believes they are speaking truth, but there is but one Truth - God Himself.

You know I feel for you. I have felt the same way that you do right now. I have also been one that has been in the fray of it too. I admit that. Last night as a matter of fact, and later I was very ashamed. I am usually the one who wants peace all the time. I guess I just got so sick of being backed into a corner I fought my way out instead of praying for the guidance as to the answer for the way out of it, or heaven forbid just walking away. You see when I first started posting here I was PRE and then I converted to Catholocism with much help from the people on CF. After that and when I felt something for the first time in my life that I had never felt before I became more the evangelist than the friend that everyone was used to. I care more about my relationship with Him than anything else and what I must try to do to plese Him so my posts started to reflect this. Well let me tell you have I gotten a backlash out of that....LOL Oh well that is what I have to do. I have no choice in it anymore and they do not seem to realize that yet. But they will. And the ones that were truly my friends no matter what their denomination have backed me and my decision, so all is not lost. And I have finally realized my core friends are here in OBOB, so when I need them here is where I retreat too. I pray that you will take this under consideration and not leave us. We need all the Brethren around us that we can muster.

I sense your frustration. The behaviour you describe exists everywhere these days. I've had ppl. in helping professions (such as therapists) slam me b/c of my Catholic beliefs ("I'm so glad I got out of THAT religion! Are you sure it's the right one for you?", etc.) Ppl. who bash each other like this are being very, very un-Christian.

I do not like it either. But I have to say that this is the best Christian message board I've EVER been on. Just for discussing my Catholic beliefs in a very friendly way, I have been banned from one message board, suspended from another, and probably banned/suspended from a third (I'm about to go check it now ) I think this forum is a wonderful place and in places where people disagree things will always get heated - we just have to stay cool and set a good example.

i am definatly not saying that there shouldn't be any disagreements. i believe geting in an argument with someone is the best way to learn because you can learn things that you didn't know before. i just think that it should be done in a God like and peacful way. there is no need to insult someone if they believe soemthing differant. You are right, this is a great site and that is why i am staying on. And Debi, i think you are a great person for voicing your beliefs no matter what people think of it. Keep up the good work.
