Sibelius lovers??

Anybody big on Jean/Jan Sibelius? Anybody listened to anything besides "Finlandia"?

I haven't heard a whole lot by Sibelius. However, I absolutely love his Karelian Suite. Such a beautiful piece of music!

As far as Finlandia goes, I don't particularly care for most of it, but I love the theme.

Being from Finland I have listened to some of his music. I think his 2nd symphony is very impressive and emotional.

Romance in C is probably my favorite piece of Sibelius.

I'm fond of Sibelius. I know the major works, and played the second symphony in an orchestra a long time ago.

I love the Sib 3rd symphony, especially the slow bit with the sad oboe solo. Mmmmmmm

I bought a wonderful CD recently called Northern Lights and it's a selection of choral and classical pieces from Scandinavia. Sibelius is featured as well as lesser known composers such as Rautavaara, Sisask, Merikanto, Kuula and of course the giant that was Grieg!

My soul is proud that Sibelius was from Finland. A great, great composer!
