  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone know about siatic nerves and pregnancy?

About a week ago I started with a really bad pain in my tail bone and through my butt cheeks

It wasn't too bad but I could definitely feel it sitting down, standing up whatever. Well this weekend I worked in my yard a bit and Sunday afternoon it was so bad I couldn't walk. I've never felt anything like it in my life!! I couldn't sit, I couldn't stand, I couldn't lay down- everything caused horrid pain.

I'm still in a lot of pain but at least I can move now. My husband thinks it's my siatica. Is this common in pregnancy?

Is there anything that can fix it? I mean I can't get through my day at work, it's definitely an hinderance in being able to perform my job (sitting for 8 hours).

Would a chiro help this?

physiotherapist can help, especially if you get it early in pregnancy and keep it up throughout pregnancy - I'm assuming Chiro would be similar. Massage therapy is also awesome, I had a beautiful massage late in my last pregnancy - it was like I had forgotten what relaxed feels like for those muscles, and it helped me to understand how to relax them.

But I had bad sciatic back pain, it shoots from the hips through your butt and down your leg, I also had trouble sleeping, walking. I found it got worse if I over did it, and was ok if I sat up straight.

Oh, it's very common in pregnancy because all your joints are more loose, and because you'll start to carry more weight, I had it through both my pregnancies...

I talked to my OB's nurse and she said I'm not far enough along for it to be pregnancy related... now I have no idea what to do. I suppose I'll try and see my family doctor.
I think that's crap :D I've had the sciatica pain from pretty much the get-go with this pregnancy. I know it was definitely in the first trimester when I started getting it. So I don't believe that you're not far enough along to be getting it. Yes, it's usually something that women get later in the pregnancy but it's not impossible to get it early on.

Oh geez..I remember that. The first time I experienced it I was at work. It hurt so bad that I couldn't walk...I was stuck behind the counter lol.

oh and I think your OB's nurse doesn't know what she's talking about...definately get it checked out.
