  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear Daily Message Readers,

READ: Mark 12:28-34

Mark 12:30 (NIV) “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”
Do you realize that many companies are beginning to sell products that are so noiseless a person in the next room won't even be able to hear it? For instance, I was searching on ebay.com and noticed a golf cart for sale in the $4000 range. Not only did this travel along at 25 MPH, but it also was a silent ride. Anyone walking down the street would have to make visual contact before recognizing its presence. The goal, according to the ad, was to be kind to all the neighbors and people who would not necessarily like the sounds of a normal golf cart engine.

Being kind to our neighbors is an important part of Jesus’ teachings. But He took it a step further. In Mark 12:31, Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” However, he also linked loving our neighbor to the greatest commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). If we love God with our whole being as Jesus commands us, we will naturally treat people right.

While there is no guarantee that we will get the same treatment in return, loving our neighbor is something that Jesus expects from us from on daily basis. Ask Him today how you can use this commandment to reach people for the kingdom.

Faith Lesson: The lesson is simple: Love God and your neighbor.
In Christ,
Darin Smith
