This is a recent picture; it was requested for the cover of a book about homelessness. I gave it to the author of the book, and he wanted me to sign it. I never sign icons, so I signed the mount instead. :)

This is St Laurence church, with one of my icons of St Laurence on the wall. The little image of Oscar Romero is now there as well. You can just see it on the right side of the altar; this was the evening it was blessed before being put up.

Beautiful work!

Thank you. You are most kind.

It is nice to show them. They are mostly in boxes in my kitchen. There was going to be an exhibition at the Abbey (better not say which one) but they let me down a week and a half before it was due to start. I had fliers and cards printed, and pictures specially painted. The fliers all went in the bin.

I have not tried again; they stay in boxes.

Is not art more than drawing/painting?
Poetry is an art, so an example of my art is seen below.

Flying Dragons
dragon..jpg

Have you ever seen a dragon soaring swiftly through the sky?
Or seen one leap with trunks of legs to soar up, oh so high?
You e'er seen one prepare to land? that sight would terrify,
Don't worry if you haven't, 'cause for certain, nor have I.
I haven't seen that 'scaly green' the fly space occupy,
Nor seen the fiery puffing beast, earths gravity, defy,
And while no ogreish brute exists, I cannot tell a lie,
While I've not seen flying dragons, I've seen a 'dragonfly'.

I love your poem! Do you have a thread on here with your poetry? If you don't you should consider creating one if you feel comfortable with sharing more of your art with words. :) I am somewhat of a nocturnal poet because I most often write poems and lyrics in the middle of the night when insomnia is being a beast. It's probably why some of my poems are a bit hard to follow; I'm half asleep when I write them, ha. I've been adding new poems to my information page.

This is my thread in case you're curious. I get shy and remove poems a lot there, though:
http://www.christianforums.com/threads/poems-lyrics.7854493/

Here's my most recent poem:

When I was a child
I hunted every orchard
For a bit of fallen skylark-song.
I thought trills came from the throat
In ribbons and beads of color.
My earnest heart was tortured
To find a wisp of music
Or the shining dust of a note.

Afterward I thought
Of happiness like a skylark-song,
A dazzling fragment of life
To be discovered or missed;
Something more than itself -
The strangeness under a word-song,
A rainbow to lie in my palm,
Enchantment to tie at my wrist.

* I often remove my poems from here. Please don't quote my post because I want the option to remove it if I change my mind. Thanks. :) *

View attachment 160975 A customer came in complaining about this paper so I decided to try it out to see if something was wrong with it. Nothing was wrong with it. Watercolor 11x15 on perfectly fine Arches 140# cold press.
Great technique!

All of your work - so very nice. I teach art but you could teach me. The face eludes me. I mess up the placements and the shades and values.
Awww thanks.
I appreciate the compliments. I often dislike my own work..i am my biggest critic.

I use a guide in my head - i measure with my eyes - then i make light bubbles of the general shape then i draw around it to the form it looks like. Maybe i will draw my guide - but im off to work right now.. soon. :)
