Then why are we encouraged to do so, sometimes at the risk of incurring the 'hypocrite' moniker if we choose otherwise?

No-one actually thinks you SHOULD be - it is a devil's advocate-style argument to lay bare the inconsistency of your views.

I'm sure you're not clueless enough to fail to grasp this point, but I would imagine it reinforces your prejudices to pretend otherwise.

Interesting that the only ones who think my views are "inconsistent" are non-dispensationalists.

Anyone can accuse someone of having a particular view, then refuse to accepts his arguments against that view.

That would be because of the tiny matter of the massive contradiction dispensationalism entails regarding the attached claim of absolute morality.

As far as I'm concerned, you haven't sufficiently justified dispensationalism, so you haven't justified your claim that it is wrong to try and execute someone for witchcraft - and with a massive hole like the one above, I don't expect you're likely to, either. Willing to be proved wrong, though....

Why? My only aim is to show your personal Biblical views to be inconsistent, which I managed with this adequately.

Like I said when I addressed this post before - I don't wish for you to be consistent in practice on this one, at least not to the point of someone dying - I'm glad we live in a society where such things are illegal and not at the whim of whatever "dispensation" some theological Mc-Graw Hill tells their credulous followers we are currently under.

There's nothing to be consistent in; I never practiced that in the first place.

I'm addressing those who want us to start that practice back up.

The inconsistency lies in your selective literalism, backed up by an laughably inconsistent piece of theological jargon called "dispensationalism" - not the treatment of witches.

I'm addressing those who want us to start that practice back up.

That would be no-one, then - missing the concept of devil's advocate yet again, I see. Like I said - I'm glad we live in a society which isn't at the whim of whatever "dispensation" the theologians decide to make up next.

Well, I'm glad you're admitting that anyone who encourages us not to be hypocritical in "that area" are just playing devil's advocate.

It's a figure of speech, AV - try and refrain from taking it literally.

Witch is it? are or were?

Why is it that you continually ask me about what your position is? If you feel I incorrectly paraphrased your position, just say so and correct me. Or is it that yoru position on witches is so murky that you have yourself confused?

Good -- then you won't be wondering why Christians aren't out burning witches?
Nope. Secular reason wins again. The bible is horribly outdated. Its a good thing people don't use the bible to make many of their choices in life as they did back then. If they did, christians would be persecuting people they call witches and burning them just like they have done in history.

Christians have already shown how they would act if they ran the world as proof of witch burnings and the crusades. its sad to watch you pointing your finger at scientists and blame them for what Christians have already done.

Its hardly the fault of scientists or more accurately scholars that point out how Christians acted and thought back then. They did those things. You follow secular morality just like everyone else does.

History shows us what happens when people follow everything the bible tells them.

Riiight.

If I point my finger at scientists, I can point at something more potent than [today's so-called] witchcraft.

Ha! I have seen all your examples before. You blame poor engineering on scientists when it is the fault of engineer and you blame bad drugs on scientists when they have no control over the product distribution or when its released.

sad.
