  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Should we preach against sin?

What did Jesus do? He convicted people using the Law, to humble them, break them, and bring them to a point where they would accept His Grace. We should follow in Jesus' ways, 100%

Our modern Evangelism has failed, in that it focuses on the false doctrine that being a Christian makes you live a better, easier life.

Rather, we should convict people by the Law and let them know the reality of Judgement, and that being a Christian is about being one of God's children, not living a better, easier life.

Being a true Believer is not an easy task or one for someone with a false motive and an unrepentant heart. In fact, it is never an easy task, but a worthwhile one.

Apparently you haven't visited many modern Churches. ;)

Many churches are watering down--that is so true, and so sad. It is a really difficult balance, though, loving the sinner and not hating the sin so I think a lot of people have started either loving both or hating both. At least this is what I've seen.
