  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

  • The rule regarding AI content has been updated. The rule now rules as follows:

Be sure to credit AI when copying and pasting AI sources. Link to the site of the AI search, just like linking to an article.

Should we ever stop asking?

Isn't it amazing how the peace that passes all understanding happens when the Lord enters your life?
The peace I'm learning to cultivate does not depend on an external source to grant that peace as a reward or gift. It is not derived from an authoritarianism which alienates humans from themselves through guilt, then comforts the victims of condemnation and makes them feel indebted for relief of that guilt. It is not a peace which comes and goes according to the whim of a demanding cosmic Santa Clause who is always checking his list to see who has been naughty or nice. Peace is the nature of the True Self. To go beyond simply having peace is to realize you "are" peace.

and where is the question in all this? :doh:You do realize that this thread is not about answers but how long can it go on just questions, and you are the first to blow it?

Sorry, I guess I didn't see your post as a genuine question. I might be wrong but it looked more like putting forth a subtle, scripture-derived doctrinal statement on the only way to obtain peace. Funny thing about this Lord of scripture everybody talks about is that disobedience causes him to leave and take his peace with him when he withdraws (or casts you out as the case may be). I'm just letting others know they don't have to spend 30 years worrying about such things like I did. Perhaps the only thing I really blew was someone's veiled attempt at evangelizing liberals and unbelievers to get them to accept a particular biblical concept of Lordship. Besides, looking back over the posts I see at least one conservative on page 45 used this thread for preaching in the form of a question and was called on it. So, I'm technically not the first one to blow it.

Is this indeed the first to not notice that this is a thread about questions, not answers ?

Is this not the second time ?

Was it not a deep insight that was reported though, and so a forgiveable passionate outburst about faith in love which is God rather than faith in religious mumbo-dogma ?

Is it not the saints and Jesus who revealed that we know God through lovingness, not through dogmatic divided traditions of men ?

To be protected from the accuser of the brethren by my big brother grants me a lot of peace of mind.

Why did I pick Visionary's post to respond to in a testy, negative way? Should I apologize to Visionary before I stop posting on C.F. again? Will she see past the question and take it as an apology anyway?

Why did I come back to visit C.F.? Did I mistakenly think that being argumentative on here might be a way of dealing with lingering unpleasant emotions related to my former religion of Christianity? How wrong was that? Will I actually be able to stay away from C.F. permanently this time?

Do you really expect to be able to stay away?
Do you not always return?

Can we forgive the world because God made it this way for His cause , something for us to understand from scripture, not disagree with Him for ever ?

Is life not a trial so that we can prove we love all men , even those who feel they are our enemies, and so love God ... or not ?
