How is the anniversary of one's birth pagan?![]()
And is every day not holy if lived for God to the best of one's ability?
how could anyone know the answers to these questions?
Are we even trying to find the answers?
Is the question not the point?
Will we be subjected to this kind of questioning all the way up to Christmas day, even though the asker has no idea what we might all do in terms of both celebrating the day of our Lord's birth or in terms of charity?
Is this not heaping judgement upon your brothers and sisters that you do not know very well?
Are we not allowed to express Joy and Love?
Is it not the place of the Spirit to pinch our consciences?
Would anyone like an eggnog?
Does the stranger among us draw his bible like a gun?![]()
Do you like rum and a dash of nutmeg in your eggnog?

Don't you know that I have pasteurized eggnog? Or are you allergic to nutmeg? Or is it the rum that makes you sick?
How many questions was that? Three?
This is a good question, isn't it?Did God ever tempt you to keep a pagan gluttonous ritual in mid-winter when His son was born in the Spring ,since shepherds in the Holy Land do not sit around in the fields in Winter , their herds being all inside too?
Have you ever wondered why Jesus is called the Lamb of God when lambs weren't ever used as Sin offerings?Do shepherds not sit around in fields in the Spring when all lambs are born , even the Lamb of God ?
Do not humans do many things that are not prescribed in Scripture? Regarding birthdays, is it not the case that people nowadays do not associate their celebration with anything Pagan? How do you know Jesus never ever had a birthday celebration? Would it surprise you to know that many Christians agree with you regarding both Christmas and Easter?Where does scripture tell anyone to keep birthdays , let alone keep them on the wrng day at the wrong time of year by a pagan fertility rite , when Jesus never ever had a birthday celebration in his lifetime, let alone commanded anyone to keep it , and even trample on the day he set for celebartion of his death too ?
Do you believe it is possible to promote our own agendas within the framework of a question? Do you think that you and I might both be doing so? As an aside, who among us can say they know the mind of God?Can there be any judgment in a question, is that not the beauty of this thread that they are ONLY questions ? Is judgment then only by oneself of oneself if one knows the answer to the question?
Should not each day, yes even each minute, be considered holy to the Christian?Has God not set times for celebration of Him, holy days that men trample on in preference of pagan rites ?
Perhaps, but did you realise I was referring to those who have accepted the grace of God in their lives through faith in Jesus Christ and as such have been released from the guilt of their sin and given the Holy Spirit? Is the conscience of those who remain in sin not dead , gagged?
And the power of the Holy Spirit? Are God's arrows in scripture not sharp enough to penetrate the strongest denial though ?
Your a good egg, nog, or are you?![]()
Is keeping pagan ritual alive not a serious matter , as men worldwide trample on God's holy rituals and days , and keep, IN PLACE OF God's memorial days , the ritual celebrations and rites of gods they do not even worship openly ?
Is God not a serious matter to consider , a cause of much pain and sorrow and soul-searching in giving up sin in true repentance , before one can rejoice in Him through trial to perfection of one's love?
Is not their only meaning in the Babylonian astrological paganism... ? If men celebrate pagan days. Yet corrupt God's holy days , do they not offend God by worshipping ,however poorly, by pagan ritual , yet ignoring the ritual God set as memorials to men for all time?
Why would any saint celebrate Xmas gluttony as the poor continue to starve in the world and churches of human sinners do not stop it , do not even share their food as they hypocritically say 'good will to ALL men' on Xmas day as another 50,000 little kids die on that same day they stuff their faces and give gifts none of them actually need ...?
Did God ever give any such instruction? Was it not the Babylonian magi who claimed importance of one's day of birth as determining one's life , a truly deep pagan astrological belief never held by any Hebrew or Christian saint or by Jesus?
Did God not show through the prophets that it is how we die that matters?
Ecclesiastes 7:1?

If they do not worship or believe in the god that the celebration was originally dedicated to, and the personal meaning of the celebration for the person in question is not pagan (or even religious, in some cases) in nature, can it even be said to be the same holiday? Does ritual hold any power of its own apart from the meaning that one attaches to it?
There can be no doubt of this, but at the same time, is there no room in one's life for fun and enjoyment outside of such matters?
If they love God in their hearts and bear the fruits of the Spirit in their lives, do you really think God cares what holidays they celebrate?
Aren't you overstepping your bounds by making such broad, harsh generalizations about millions of people that you do not know?
Why do the specks in their eyes concern you so when you have a plank of your own to tend to?
Moreover, since when has God ever told anyone NOT to give thanks to Him for or celebrate because of a gift He has bestowed upon them?
Are you then saying that the gift of this life which God has given you is irrelevant and not worth celebrating?
Would this not a supremely ungrateful way of viewing life?
Does the fact that the manner of one's death is important somehow render everything that precedes it, birth included, completely meaningless?
Additionally, does death not lead to the birth of new life, and does this not mean that birth and death are both significant events?
Is this not the same chapter in which Solomon, the man with 700 wives, declares women to be "more bitter than death?"
Is this not rather at odds with the feelings expressed in Song of Songs, and does this not show that Solomon's views at the time may have been skewed by his personal experiences (and failings) and the stage of life which he was experiencing?
